Well you see, their normal base Attack stat is actually higher than their Sp. Attack.

A Modest nature lowers normal attack and raises sp attack. Which basically leaves it with mediocre offensive stats.

Oh my... Good luck with that

@pancakes: oh ok, thanks. Guess mine is standard sized, not too big or too small.

I actually didn't find one, I just wanted to see how you people reacted.

Considering it happened to another one of our users, it's not funny,

Even worse than getting more than one shiny in a horde, knowing you can only catch one.

Sorry, I didn't know.

well maybe your pumpkaboo have adamant nature at the moment, i have no plans of using any phyiscal moves for my Gourgeist Move pool

He will most likely get
Shadow ball (Special) — Main STAB
Trick or Treat (Status)
Psychic (Special)
TBD

with modest nature he currently has:
Att: 59
Def: 68
Sp.A: 61
Sp.D: 58
Spd: 62

it goes with my plans on how i will use him on my team

No, I really mean it. gourgest's [base] Attack stat is almost double than it's [base] Sp. Attack stat.

According, to serebii's calculations, Gourgeitsts base attack ranges from 85 to 100 depending on it's size while his sp attack sits at 58.

That means that gourgeist (and pumpkaboo too) have much much more potential in their normal attack than in their special attack.

A gourgeist with good individual values and a good nature can reach the >300 attack points, while its sp attak caps at <240. If that makes sense.

If you want to train yours as a special attacker I won't stop you though.... Part of the fun of the games is doing what you want how you want.

a quick google confirmed that. ill be damned.

i guess i'll have to find an Adamant natured Pumpkaboo now, and just change my main stab to Shadow Claw or something. Thanks for the heads up morph!

i dont have quite a choice, since both Gorgeist and Trevenant turns out to be both Physical Attackers, to waste such a potential would be stupid of me.

Yeah it seems weird to waste four spots in pokedex with two almost identical families.

However, trevenant hits harder in both offensive stats while gourgeist is both more defensive and faster.

If you have any male pokemon with an adamant nature that can breed with a female pumpkaboo, you can give it an everstone and any egg they produce will be an adamamt pumpkaboo.

Bonus points if any of them is japanese or from other country, the pumpkaboos would end up with high chances of being shiny.

oh, already got one. thanks for the tip though.

does that mean that eggs will inherit nature from its father if its mother is holding an everstone?

They will get the nature of the parent holding the everstone. If both are holding, it's 50-50.

Pokemon in eggs are always the same species as the mother.

Oh and power items make the egg inherit their parent's individual values too.

Lies!

I am so ticked off that my Dodrio can't participate in Sky Battles even though it clearly is a Flying type and even knows Fly! Also disappointing is that when you use Fly to move on the map, it isn't your Pokemon that appears in the cutscene but a generic bird.

I'm also disappointed about the fact that when we use fly and is not our Pokémon, but in a way I like. Why? Is has always been like that, in older generations was very different, the previous generations got cooler, and now is even more cool, if they put our own Pokémon to do it, or make better animations, in the future, they would not have more things to innovate. Like in the battle, I believe that in the future, Gen 8 or 9, the Pokémon, when attacking, they will go, in the animation, to the other side of the field, to actually and really attack the foe. They could've done that, but it would be too much.. I don't know if you get my point, I'm not that good in explaining my opinions, I see in the way and is hard to tell other people, but, anyway..

Sky battles have nothing to do with the pokemon's capacity to fly.

It's all in the model of the pokemon.

Is the pokemon not touching the ground? If it's type Flying or has levitate then it can participate in sky battles.

That's the reason all these bird pokemon are always flying even if it's out of character (like noctowl and that swan pokemon), they made their models generically flying so they wouldn't need to make two, one for normal battles and one for sky battles.

That's also the reason dodrio, hawlucha and other small birds can't participate in them, not because they can't fly. It's because they're not always flying while in battle. And it's the reason gyarados can! Gyarados, mantine and mantike are not touching the ground.
