Of course they'll be milking it. They're using old 1MB ROMs as a basis for selling consoles in this day and age (i.e. the themed 2DS bundles). I understand that Game Freak/Nintendo would want to bleed the genwunners dry as they're no longer contributing to the "Pokémon economy" but they will be ridiculously overpriced considering what they have to offer relative to the latest main series games. Even Pokémon Dream Radar, a game designed from the ground up for the 3DS, will cost less than half the price that R/B/Y will.

I have a bad feeling that they're going to be priced at around $13 each in Australia (just to put matters into perspective, that's the going rate for Shin Megami Tensei IV when it's on sale, and it often is). I will buy all three versions either way, but Nintendo are really pushing it as far as pricing is concerned. I'm not sure I even want to play R/B/Y anymore when I think about all of the unbalanced mechanics and other features that we take for granted today.

Porygon did nothing wrong.

^Not to put you down or anything but why are you getting all 3? Blue/Red and Yellow is more understandable but blue and red are pretty much the same game and not really worth playing separately nor do you get anything extra from owning both copies, I don't really see it as a collection thing either as it's just digital.

Maybe it's a stupid question, but is it possible to tranfer the pokemon to newer versions of the game, like OR/AS?

Hi Im new.... please like me! (0_0)

@Zoriam: it's impossible. Those Pokemon can't even be transferred to gen 3 games, never mind gen 6.

So it's out in a few weeks and does anyone know if it'll be normal priced compared to other gb/gbc vc games or will they be milking it?

I thought they were already announced to be $10? (been so long since I bought a GB VC game I forgot that's twice the normal price of a marque original GB game, with the cheaper games being $3)

I don't know if it's been asked yet, but any word on if they'll have Surfing Pikachu in the VC Pokemon Yellow?

What is the meaning of life? That's so easy, the answer is TETRIS.

That's not been mentioned yet.

I'd be surprised if they didn't make it available somehow, though.

You will need to buy 3,000 Poké-diamonds and 5,000 Poké-picrites to exchange them for a surfing Pikachu.

I... Wasn't expecting to find 9 versions of the games on the eShop .

Also, they labeled Red (English) as Yellow (English) in the Mexican eShop. Heh, someone was just copy-pasting!

Anyway, it seems like a really unnecessary hassle to have 9 versions of what's essentially the same game all up at the same time. I know someone will buy the wrong one some day.

They could've just done what they did in the modern games, include all three roms/languages in the same package and have the player select the language at the beginning.

Many first party titles just use your system's language setting for the game, so if your system is set to English, most Nintendo games will be automatically set to English. With no in-game way to change it.

Pokemon was only released in multiple languages in Europe. (I believe XY/ORAS were the only games to offer all languages on the same card. Previous games, languages were sold separately, possibly due to memory limits.)
If they wanted to release it in French or Spanish in America (the next most common languages spoken in North America besides English), they'd have to put the EU versions on VC. (luckily I've heard all non-Japanese versions of RBY are compatible for battle and trading)

Yeah, that's why I said it would've been better to imitate the modern ones. It's not like they can't figure a way to do it with little effort, and the download wouldn't be all that big... The way they did it just makes it messy and confusing.

The other, even simpler, solution would be staying true to the original releases and offer only the English version. No one would've noticed anyway.

In America it was released in Spanish
... At least in Latin america. My original cartidge of Red is in Spanish (terrible traduction), while my brother's Blue versión is also in Spanish, so it isn't a problem for Nintendo - they have the Rom.

I have a chronic lack of time, for everything.

It was not sold in Mexico, so I played them in English. But well, I guess there is that precedent then.

I really can't imagine them in Spanish, it would be like playing a different game

I've played a rom in Spanish before of Yellow. It was like it was translated from English directly, meaning phrases didn't make proper sense and some words were switched with the wrong ones as well lol I'd be like that's not what you'd say but I understand this. It seems weird to me now that exclusive Spanish speakers mostly had to miss out on this back in the day due to language barriers.
Rayman 2 on N64 was the first game I ever noticed that had language changes that weren't just between English and Japanese, and then the rarity of French sometimes.

OMG 1 WEEK UNTIL RELEASE! Red pls.

I couldn't understand English at all when I first played Blue. It was a journey, I remember I once had a blastoise before the second gym, that's how lost I was haha.

Of course, I learned my first few English words thanks to the game and things started to slowly make sense with every new file.

£8.99 is too expensive for me even if there was additional work put into making the link-up compatible.

Edgey, Gumshoe, Godot, Sissel, Larry, then Mia, Franziska, Maggie, Kay and Lynne.

I'm throwing my money at the screen but nothing happens!

@Morpheel

I had that problem with Pokemon Silver. But on the good side, it made me start learning English - and to value my spanish-english dictionary
