Have you guys heard? Picross e is slated for an eshop release in Europe and Australasia soon! Jupiter, the developers behind Mario's Picross, which is also on the eShop, are bringing this game out soon on 3DSware/Download Software and it should be great puzzling fun!
I bought Picross 3D not long ago for my DS/3DS and I've really enjoyed it so far, still haven't fully completed it either, but it's a 3D version of the regular 2D Picross puzzle series and quite different too I might add, but all the same i'm excited for this game to come out.
Here's a recent trailer of the game: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgFM34kTzNU
You can also view the trailer on the eShop, under Recommmended Videos or just search Picross e and you'll find the trailer.

I've never played a picross game before so this may be a good place to start! Anyway, I've been wanting a good puzzle game on my 3DS that will suck me in as much as pushmo. Hope picross e is the answer!

Mario's Picross was fun, but that's it for me. Hopefully this thread won't become bombarded with "NOA SUCKS" comments like on Neogaf's Picross E thread, even though it's made by Jupiter. If it contains DLC I'll be getting Day 1 though!

@TheDreamingHawk Why'd they do that? Is it because they don't think it'll be released in America? Geese Us PAL gamers get barely any 3DSware and when we do everyone complains, can't satisfy the majority right?

Speaking of eShop releases, next week looks like a pretty dismal offering once again, if you don't count Picross E, the first time in three weeks we get a decent-brilliant game and everything else on offer is complete shovelware. I don't think that's gonna change for the rest of the eShops existence here in Australasia, we get maybe one one VC game, a dsiware and a wiiware/Wii VC title per week and that's ridiculous, maybe I should've imported an american 3DS....

They complain because they believe Picross E is the best game on the console, and they like to blame everything on NOA for no reason because Japan gets 7 games a week.

Waiting for a review!
I want to know how many puzzles it contains and if there will be (free) DLC. DLC worked perfectly with Picross 3D and Nintendo did a great job by keeping monthly updates for more than two years. I hope they do the same for this one!

Gonna download it soon when I can get money on my eShop account. There probably won't be DLC for this game since they already released sequel in Japan which contains 150 new puzzles to solve with the same price. Although they may have the second game as a DLC to first game so you don't have to switch game to enjoy those other 150 puzzles.

For those wondering what Picross E offers compared to Picross DS!

This is a fairly bare bones package that feels even more minimalist that Picross DS, but you aren't gonna do bad for £4.50!
There's 150 puzzles total, 15 easy, 60 normal, 60 free mode and 15 extra.
Of all these, every 5th puzzle is a no-hint puzzle, where you are not allowed to use a starting hint that reveals a row and column.

Music is unfortunately limited to one track, you can't change it. Completed puzzles are not animated like in Picross DS, and there does not appear to be an option to construct your own Picross puzzles to share, or to download additional options. The eShop does not suggest the possibility of DLC puzzles either.

It's definitely a solid title with plenty of puzzles to solve but it definitely is a lighter package compared to its DS predecessor. With the sheer number of puzzles and the design and sharing options available in Pushmo however, one really has to question the absence of such a thing in Picross E.

Edit: I forgot an important detail.
The largest puzzles are 15x15, there are no 20x15 puzzles unfortunately.

Edit: I already found a typo in this game, the title of Puzzle Extra-11 is missing a letter.
I skipped right ahead to the final puzzle of the game, Extra-15, a no-hint, 15x15 free mode puzzle.
Took less than 20 minutes to clear as an experienced picross player.

Before you guys completely ruin the experience for others, let me tell you that there's already a second game, Picross E2, that's bound to come out in the near future. I know this because Japan has already gotten both Picross games, so why complain about the lack of DLC when a second Picross game will come out?
You guys should read GoNintendo, cause this is where I find this stuff out. If you want Free DLC, buy Picross 3D, that has tons more puzzles than Picross DS.
But that's besides the point, If you buy Picross E2 when it comes out, you're essentially gonna be getting DLC because it's probably gonna be another 150 puzzles, hopefully they'll put in an editor and some extra music (or perhaps they should allow you to listen to your music from your SD card).

D/l'd yesterday. Not really much to add to RuppeClock's description above (post#10). It is very bare bones and has significantly fewer puzzles than Picross DS, there's probably less content than even Mario's Picross (GB). It's a bit of a shame there's no bigger puzzles than 15x15, and only a relatively small number of the 15*15 puzzles. But the user interface is really good, very similar to the DS version, except the cursor can now wrap around the grid, which fooled me a little at first. It still maintains a choice between button play and stylus play (which i don't use anyway).

The sound is instantly forgettable, but can be switched off to play with FX only... @ RetroGBHippie92 Listening to your own music would be a fantastic feature, i wish more games did this...

I think i'll still get my money's worth from this, but i'm sure i'll be waiting for Picross E 2 rather soon.

what about the puzzles? new ones or old ones from picross ds or mario's picross?

15x15
they have to repeat some puzzles sooner or later, right?

Only did about the fitst 20 puzzles, so my comments shoul just be taken as a first impression.

Not sure if there are repeated puzzles. I suppose there will be many puzzles that are at least similar to puzzles in the older games - but you've got to expect that with any of these types of puzzles, whther it's Picross, Sudoku, Kakuro, etc. My Past experience with the Nintendo/Jupiter Picross titles is all puzzles are well designed and always solveable using logic and deduction. I've played lesser titles where guess work has to come into play because the puzzles are poorly designed.

i think i will rather buy picross ds used

This was reported on Nintendolife December last year, they have not brought the game up in any of their articles about Picross E as far as I can see.

I wasn't bashing anybody rupeeclock, I was just telling off those who were critisizing the game for the lack of DLC when they obviously didn't remember about the Picross e2 news. That news was reported on I know, but for those who were thinking of buying this game i wanted to assure them that more was on the way and that DLC was kinda unnecessary to begin with. I think before you start pointing fingers next time you need to read the comment so you can better see the point i'm making, not the tone, after all I tell it like it is not how you want it.

I did know about the Picross E2 game. But I still just can't stand how they aren't at least putting a DLC mode in at least ONE of the two games.
