This thread is for the discussion of the latest game of ridiculous and senseless courtroom action!

So far, the only complaint I have is how I can find a contradiction and then watch an hour of pointless cutscenes and drama before I can point it out.

LOL The "pointless cutscenes and drama" are most of the appeal of this series. Think of cases less as mysteries you need to solve and more as interactive stories that need to unwind at their own pace.

It wouldn't be so bad if the first case was so dragged out, even compared to other first cases. The second half was totally worth it though

I can't say I liked the demo.

I guess I'll be skipping this one, maybe one day it'll be on sale for cheap.

"The Foreign Turnabout" gotta be the longest first case in the series. I know the intention was setting up the new setting (Khura'in), but there was a lot of unnecessary dialogue, like they repeating for the 40th time how much they hate Attorneys.
The premise of Phoenix in a land with different laws reminded me of PLvsAA at first, with the witch hunt trials.

I'm loving it so far, despite encountering some of the most cringeworthy name puns in the entire series, as well as some banter overdose between characters. Definitely a step up from Dual Destinies so far.

Includes spoilers for the first trial.

I'm currently at trial day 1 in the second case, it has been awsome so far, very enjoyable. (Except the first badguy's music)
I was suprised to see Payne wanting Nick dead. I know he is a mean guy, but I did not think he was that evil. And these new characters has so long names I have a hard time understanding the puns, left alone remember their names, took me moste of the trial befire I got what the kids name was

Punny names have been a staple of the series. They just got extra creative with the Khuranese names since they can bend the rules now

@Lzeon I know they usually use punny names, its just that these new ones are so long I have a hard time remembering them and get the puns x)

Soon done with the second case now.

I just remember the pun:

Albhi Ur guide: I'll be your guide
Datz Arabel: That's a rebel
Tahrust Inmee: Trust in me

@Lzeon Those are names in this game?

You have got to be kidding me.

I guess "Deid Mann" or "Frank Sahwit" aren't much better, though.

I finished it today and loved it. Case 1 was longer than it should've been but still decent, case 2 was good, case 4 was just filler and case 3 and 5 were excellent. Especially 5.

I found the main Khura'in plot much better and more interesting than the "Dark Age of Law" stuff from DD. Apollo has a great role and a lot of development in this game. (Yep, that's the game Apollo deserved).

Nahyuta was a good prosecutor but I feel he lacked presence. Rayfa was great. She's basically reverse Maya, always criticising you and being tsundere. I liked her much more than I expected to.

It is strange how this is the first game in the series where Case 4 is not important at all.

Finished the third case now, loved it even thought I was able to predict allmoste every who did what.
And fantastic use of spirit channeling!
I just hope the fifth case will be unpredictable and not keep the minister of justice as the main bad guy. He just screems "I'm the badguy!" Would be nice if the true mastermind was the queen. As for the prosecutor, it looks line they will do something similar to what they did with Simon... He is so just pretending to not be a good guy just to take down the real badguy at the end.
And I guess they will throw in Edgworth to arrest Payne or something as Nick thought about Payne as a illegal imigrant and Edgworth has been in every PW game I have played so far. (All except Apollo Justice)

Let's just say...it plays out differently than what appears.

A certain unresolved plot point that could be explored in the next game is the mysterious organization from DD that wanted the moon rock by any means possible.

I beat the game and I've gotta say, it was a lot better than JFA and DD. The constant hate you'd get from the crowd in Khura'in put a lot of pressure on you. It literally felt like everyone was against you and it was awesome. The drawn out nature of the cases only added to that feeling. Also, that last case was top notch. I'm also glad to see Apollo getting a lot of light this time around. Man was that last case tragic. I legit got teary eyed when certain revelations came to pass.

I'm also glad they carried on the tradition of punny names. I do think that the breakdowns were better in past games though. Overall, it was a pretty solid entry, and while it's not as amazing as T&T, I can at least say it was only slightly under PW:AA.

Spilers for the fourth and Fifth case.

So I won the fourth case lst night. It was too long. I was able to guess how he was killed very fast and how she disposed the "weapon". And then we got a long detour about how that multi personality guy tampered with the crimescene just to end up with him beeing killed allmoste the way I guessed.

Pros:

  • More Simon is allways a good thing. I wish he could be the prosecutor in this case thought.
  • A lot of food talk.
  • The judge´s interest in the "balloons" was hillarious

Cons:
-Too long, Athena should have figured it out faster.
-The proscutor went overboard with his verbal abuse.

As for the fifth case, I just reached the first trial. That was an unexpected turn of events.
And Pearls is back! And they hinted at Edgworth was there too. Thats cool.
My current guess is that Nick is will do to Apollo what Edgworth usually do to him (working together to figure out the truth)
And I hope we get to understand why the professor had the Ami bottle, as it belongs in Pearls house.

Best pun in the game: Inga Karkhuul Haw'kohd Dis'nahm Bi'ahni Lawga Ormo Pohmpus Da'nit Ar'edi Iz.
I laughed way more than I should.
