Yeah you too! We make a nice team actually. Straight wrecked that Zinogre and Mohran all the way to high rank lol...

Holy heck, guys, Dalamadur is an amazing set piece fight when you get to the end of rank 7. Think Dahren Mohran, but with any concept of safety removed.
have i made a noob mistake? was low on money so sold some monster parts of things I fought a few times like kecha wacha and a couple of eggs steel and silver...should you keep all monster parts and items like eggs?
also I have been focusing on upgrading the long sword and hammer due to the insect glaive seemingly being stuck as bone am I doing something wrong trying to upgrade it? it was my favourite weapon in the demo but it just looks awful compared to some of the weapons I can make in other categories

Typically ok never sell monster parts just because you never know what you're gonna need or want down the line. Well, I do sell parts late game in G rank, but I know what I'm selling and whether or not it's something I'm gonna need. So I would advise against it, until you're experienced enough to know what you won't need.
As for weapons, each weapon has different damage because each weapon is different. Like, Dual bladed May only have 1/4 the damage as a Great Sword, but you can land 4x as many hits on average. Pretty well balanced across the board.
As for the insect glaive, it is unique in the way it upgrades. You feed it nectar, then upgrade the staff, then feed it nectar, then upgrade the Kinsect, then feed it nectar, then upgrade the staff, and so on and so forth, alternating between upgrading the actual staff and the insect that flys with it. Basically, that bone insect glaive you have- feed it power nectar until the bar fills up all the way. Then go to upgrade it and it should upgrade to Bone Glaive +. Do the same again, only this time when you upgrade you'll be upgrading the insect. Do the same again, and then the bone glaive + will become the next weapon in the tree, etc etc

Sell all the steel, silver and gold eggs you want, they're not used for forging. I do remember years ago when I first started put I though why would I need spider webs so I sold all of those. Little did I know they were quite valuable.

If I was only ever able to have Monster Hunter and EO games in the future, I would be a happy man.
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but I recall needing a few golden eggs in MH3U for something

I've decided to put some time into using the insect glave, just out of curiosity. I notice that they're generally weaker than the switchaxe.
Can anyone tell me more about the insect glave? Pros and cons? Advice on usage? Currently I have my sights set on the Gore Magala Glave. I already have some parts for it, it's just a matter of fighting Gore Magala some more.
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
Nerscylla's Glaive I just flat-out love. But yeah once you get used to the weapon and know when the best time to use the little bug and vaulting, it's a great weapon.

Keep it PG-13-ish.

The Insect Glaive is really good for mounting, generally you can get off maybe 4-6 mounts per hunt from its jump attack. What makes the weapon unique is the buffs the insect can grab. The red one gives more power and combos(most useful one tbh), the white one makes you move a little faster and jump higher, and the orange one gives you knockback protection. It's usually better if you just send out the bug out without using the marker since it's more time efficient, though you have to remember what spots of the monster gives the buffs you want. I can't think of much cons, but upgrading it can be a pain since you have to upgrade both the bug and weapon itself.

Thanks for the info! I noticed I was able to make @Sanya's staff, so I went ahead and forged it to practice with until I can get the Gore one. Is thrre certain nectar that is more useful or effective than others?

Generally the nectar you want to use depends on what you want your insect to be when upgrading the staff. Your insect can be a power, stamina, speed, or balanced type once you hit that certain stage of upgrading. This stuff is pretty confusing for everyone including me, but these images does a better job at explaining of what each nectar does and what stuff you need to know about when you upgrade your weapon.
