DS Palm Shore was a good one, and the new battle courses sound interesting.

Check out the Japanese Mario Kart 7 site: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/amkj/customize/index.html

Click on the tabs at the top to see other aspects of the game. It looks like more stuff will be revealed in the future.

Ugh! I hate how the Japanese site has the text in an image format, because then I can't copy and paste it into Google Translate. >:T But, whatever...

Nintendo is notorious for doing that. Damn them.

I didn't say my opinion on the lucky 7 item when I posted what it is earlier and I think it seems like it will be too cheap and make it too easy for whoever gets it. I hope you can turn off items in this.

That was my initial reaction too but it seems like it's really hard to even get it at all:
http://www.gamespot.com/3ds/driving/mario-kart-7/news/6341346...
From the article:
"The last new power-up could be viewed as the one that significantly changes the course of a race. The lucky 7 gives the racer access to every other power-up; you'll get a red shell, speed mushroom, banana, and so forth. If used correctly, it can cause serious problems for the other racers. Getting the lucky 7 is extremely rare, and in our many races, only one person managed to take advantage of its power."
Also it might not be as cheap/overpowered as it might seem on first sight; for example if you somehow had one in first (most likely by saving it from last) and used it, it would probably just give you 7 bananas or green shells, which isn't all that powerful. Something like saving a star or bullet bill from 6th is relatively easy, but much more powerful. On the other hand, if everyone was half a lap ahead of you, you might get stars/bullet bills/blue shells, which could help you catch up rather quickly.
I remember reading an article somewhere which said that items can be turned off (but it was only "confirmed" for online play, not single player).
BTW, I posted about the Lucky 7 first, but I guess no one cares

If the 3DS has not been discontinued SM3DL and MK7 are awesome games, but if the 3DS has been discontinued Sony has taken over the world. It is not true that both Sony has taken over the world and SM3DL and MK7 are not awesome games. Therefore:Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 are...

The seven is more likely then not, unique to last place or maybe 7th place so it's not likely to be too deadly

How long do you think it's going to be before hackers gain the ability to get the Lucky 7 at every item?

Thaaaaaanks for noticin' me.

SamuraiShyGuy

And we don't know for sure if you can get things like bullet bills or lightning bolts from a lucky seven. I personally have a hard time seeing a little bullet bill spin around you. I don't know if it's been confirmed that you can get ANY item in a lucky seven. Either way, I can imagine how awesome the feeling would be of getting one. (I do hope it is quite rare though. At least as rare as the lightning bolt in the original SMK.)

I just noticed that the fake item box hasn't been confirmed as an item yet. I hope it returns. No one had a problem with that item, did they?

Well, considering that 3DS games haven't been hacked yet (yes I know the 3DS has been hacked already, but that's only for DS games) at least a year, maybe 6 months in the worst case.
Also, Nintendo said that they are putting in "enhanced measures to combat cheating". Now I know hackers will find a way to get around Nintendo's new system, but it will at least keep them busy for a while.

Yeah, I hope that one returns too. But I hope the Fake Item Box can stop items this time.

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

So, like...How does the 7 work then? Does it fire all of them at once, or does it let you choose which item to use first or what? o.0

Why would they bother with the lucky 7? If it's going to give them bananas and green shells I wouldn't worry too much about that. Blue shells, bombs, lighting bolts, bullet bills and invincibility should still be the most powerful and disruptive items.

7 can give you more than those items... pretty sure I saw a screen shot with a red shell and a star, unless I dreamed that? Always possible.

Also now I remember how awesome Big Donut was. That was a great course.

Also, who cares about hackers when you have an awesome Nintendo Life community that meets every Saturday to race and enjoy eating delicious donuts and/or Adam.
p.s. i realized that i sold mk wii, ds, 64, and double dash. i feel so alone

[Edited by Odnetnin]

Adam

I sold them all, too, though I have both VC MKs. Hoping Wii U will have Cube downloads so I can have all my Karts once again, feasibly, but on just two systems.

but it still gives you bananas and green shells. We were talking about hackers who will and use lightning bolt, star, bombs and blue shells all before the race even starts....... I don't think they'd be that interested in 7 random items

If they can hack to get the 7, they might hack to get 7 blue shells.

I don't know why I even commented. I don't care about hackers. I don't like to play random matches too seriously.

Hackers, ugh, let's hope they stay in the past, because I remember a race on Mario kart wii where someone was giant all race, luckly they were bad at it.

but even then why would that be worse when they can create infinite blue shells in a row anyways? It's a cool and possibly marginally overpowered item for non-hackers and it's a real non-event for hackers.

Anyways, if I encounter a hacker in Mario Kart 7 I'll do what I always do. Finish the race and then quit.

shingi_70

Hacker's shouldn't be a problem. The only reason Mario Kart had hackers was becuase it was the first nintendo wifi game and had no security in place. Try Hacking in Metroid Prime: Hunters. Nintendo would either screw the gamecard or brick the whole system.
