An issue with the Looksley's Line Up on DSi was camera problems. Has anyone tried it with the 3DS camera? Does it still have the same problems? Or does it work better now?

i did not play it on a Dsi. The 3Ds version is my first so i cant compare it if its better there or here.
But yes on the 3Ds it got camera problems. I think its the problem with the technology used. It seems to make some kind of color detection, so everything that got your skin color it will detect as your face and when the wall behind you got the same color the system will get confused and the ingame camera will wobble around. I knew the issue before i bought the game so i didnt get dissapointed -> i saw it more like an experiment.
Now i dont regret my buy, because it still has a magical touch to it and is just so much unique you cant find that kind of game anywhere else ( as far as i know ). Depending how good you are at looking and getting the twist out of it i think you can play through it in 4 hours. I found it at start very hard, but after the first three levels i kinda seemed to get the hang out of it. So the second half of the game was suprisingly easy for me. And even if its hard to find certain letter or picture you can still buy tips with coins. I think i used like 6 coins or something in a whole.
I would give it a 7 out of 10 even with the camera problems. I can imagine the problems depend on the combination of your skin color and your surrounding / apartment color. Really because it detects it and stuff. You need high contrast from your face to your surrounding. It helps for example if you got darkness behind you. So of course the background is black and then you just need an illuminated face. Of course it should work with - different than your skin colored - hangings , posters or such. But i didnt have those handy so i tryed it with one lightened room and one dark room. Yes sounds weird but it worked in the end ....
Ps: dont complain when you buy it and are still dissapointed ! I warned you ( you sure need some "control" tolerance) Ps2: but nobody can say how it will work at your place, that's what only you can know. Maybe you got more ideal surroundings than me and it works better for you.
I actually bought it before your post. So far I doesn't seem to respond well. It's nighttime now, so I'll try again tomorrow. But the biggest problem I encountered is that the camera doesn't let me twist more (getting the pinocchio figure in the first level). I didn't understand it, but when I saw a picture of the DSi it hit me. The camera of the DSi is in between both screens. I think that prevents me from really playing the game and get all the things in all the levels.
But I'll try again tomorrow in better conditions. Maybe it will be better then.

So here is a link to the impressions on a normal Dsi on the DsiWare forum, maybe it helps to compare ... But its really a one time experience as mentioned in the beginning of the impressions.

Maybe you can try it with the dark / light contrast. try to find a position where the light room is in front of you and illuminates your face and a dark room is behind you. So it should be perfect contrast.
Sorry i didnt see your post from june But well i bought this game about 2 weeks ago. So i was pretty new to it as well ...
I bought the game on the 3DS and it works as it should, even though the camera is in a different place than on the original DSi. If anything, the most important factor is to play in a place with enough light. The camera detection is okay. Frankly, it would have been just as nice to be able to control the viewpoint manually.
It is a wonderful game, with a superb graphic style, and it's definitely worth the money.
