Frankly, I'd rather see a new Zelda for 3DS. 3DS is in need of new experiences as opposed to more ports, enhanced ports, remakes, and rehashes.
Of course that's going to come SOMETIME. Nintendo's just giving us a remake to play now while we wait for the new one (which hopefully won't mean waiting until the end of the console's life, like the GBA and Wii. )
the only #D I would accept for link awakening would be something like they did with Spirit tracks or Phantom hourglass. keep the top view while having top notch design. but no, NO, NOOOO way they should put it in a 3d environment like OoT or Twilight princess. and anyway, my favourites zeldas are mostly all those with that top view. the snes and gameboy ones.
and I also agree... stop wasting time on remakes, and put efforts in new products. unless they aim to put the N64 as a virtual console thing, i hope they wont go too far into the remake move so much developpers fell into.
maybe its because they had to test the 3DS developper kit of nintendo and go safely with remakes before launching real titles ?
The Zelda most in need of a remake is Wind Waker, as it is clear as you play the game through that it was rushed. Ocarina is fine as it is. As other toon link adventures since then have been released on handhelds, this would also be more logical sequentially.
That's of course your opinion since wind waker was one of my top five Zelda games. In no way was it rushed. It has one of the best stories of all the zeldas and was polished to perfection.
I to love links awakening and will be the first game I download! It is and will always be my favorite handheld Zelda to date anyways. Oot doesn't count since it wasn't made specifically for a handheld system. As for the 3d it could work but not as well with some others in the series. I wouldn't even mind if is only black and white as the game play was top notch!

Wind Waker is a very enjoyable game, but it's obvious that it's not finished. At one point in the game you're simply given an item, that, in every other Zelda game would require you to go through a dungeon to obtain. Play it again, it's painfully obvious when you get to that point.
Wind waker had some of the hardest items to get. Some had to be at night at certain parts of the day others took forever to get since I believe it was one of the harder Zelda games as far as game play goes. If an item was given to you it must have not been to important but the best items took hours to forever to get. I remember having to collect many items to trade in for the one I needed.

I still say wind waker had some of the hardest items to get in any Zelda game. Just because an item is given to you doesn't mean the game is not polished! I had more fun finding all the secrets in the game then in any other Zelda game. Hey were cleaver in the way they were hidden. Almost ever island had some type of secret and not a small one either usually a great item or heart piece! Anyways thread hijack over bring on links awakening!

The other key story items in the quest weren't simply given to you, this gave the game a feel that wasn't as symmetrical to other Zelda games, and it really did feel to me and others I've spoken to that originally Nintendo had intended for there to be more dungeons; whereas playing Majora felt complete to me, despite having only 4.On the subject of Wind Waker, I think the castle that was mostly black and white is one of the best Zelda pieces.
As for Awakening, best 2D Zelda for me, and I'd like to see it in 3D vision. Though I can think of other games (Yoshi's island?) that'd fare better.
I agree, WW did seem like it was rushed. That triforce shard gathering towards the end is another indication.
Yes, that's it! Thank-you. As extremely important items are just being handed out, why don't we stop this adventuring and have a knees up?
I just burst out laughing at this point of the game. I don't know if anyone remembers the episode of The Simpsons with the introduction of Poochy to Itchy & Scratchy, but this part of the game just made me think of Poochy suddenly ascending into a spaceship.
if i remember correctly, they give you that pearl after you complete a rather large quest and beat a boss.
Also, the island with the probable dungeon you would need beat was completely destroyed (and the people living there too!) by Ganon. Let's remember Ganon's usual ways to prevent you from getting important stuff: 1) Curse the place 2) Send a monster 3) Destroy the place slowly enough so Link can save the place.
If you ask me, they were very original with that one.
odd. because wind waker was a love-hate relationship with me. it began super well, it was the best gamecube experience to date. then, halfway through, i felt it was rushed to end the project. dungeons began to be easy, looked...unfinished. the whole boat riding thing wasnt fully optimized and began to be one hell of a chore. i loved it, then the game made me hate it. i wrapped it up fast, without trying to collect everything because i was bored or pissed at it. the only time it did this to me in a zelda game. the ONLY time.
i prefer to keep windwaker out of the way when it comes to zelda. phantom hourglass made it much better, keeping the boat riding fun and preventing it to be a chore or too long to navigate from A to B.
Link awakening is probably my favourite 2d zelda. or the one that brings me the most nostalgia.
I know I own a 3DS and I love it and all, but 3D isn't that big of a deal for me. I don't care about Link's Awakening being in 3D, I just can't wait to relive it when a full version comes out on the e-shop.
