@kkslider5552000 I don't remember too much because I was on a break from gaming back then but I remember everybody playing the first Devil May Cry which was a PS2 exclusive and GTA III which was initially exclusive...... I think the PS2 also got several Metal Gear exclusives that were very popular (never been into that franchise) Persona 3 was also a big hit when it came out and is what made the persona franchise what is today, Kingdom Hearts 1 launched a successful franchise and I"m sure there are more example of PS2 exclusives that were big deals when they launched (and that's only third party)
Oh yeah, I think the beginning of Devil May Cry was probably also the peak of its popularity or so it seemed.
But at least at the time, it was the multi-console stuff, especially after a while. I distinctly remember me and my brother both getting like 4 or 5 GCN games each one Christmas and like 2 of them were exclusive because so many games were on everything. SSX 3, Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, and True Crime: Streets of LA being the best ones.
If I had an Xbox during the time, it would probably be way more obvious because Xbox's really good exclusives were too infrequent.
