Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns launches for 3DS later this month. Along with that title, Marvelous has a completely original, 3DS-only title in the works. Famitsu has the announcement on Harvest Moon: The Land’s Origins. We don’t have details yet, but we do have the first scan of the game. The first information should arrive soon.
personally seeing this news is making me reconsider getting the 3DS version of the harvest moon coming out this month and wait for the 3DS only version, then again i wonder how long the gap id have to wait
Very nice find @BlackFira. Thanks for sharing that. I'm probably still going to pick up A Tale of Two Towns when it comes out for the 3DS but this new Harvest Moon looks incredibly good. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

no problem i figured people on here would like to hear this news i might just get the tale of two towns anyways providing it plays like the gamecube one which is the only one i ever played and have memories of
Good grief. There is such thing as 'too much of a good thing'.
I bought Rune Factory 3 yesterday, but just like 'Moon, I can probably expect Marvelous to crank out another game shortly.
What's the consensus on these games? Is each new one a masterpiece - Has Marvelous Inc. unlocked the secret treasure chest of videogame production and discovered how to make unmissable 'moon after unmissable 'moon?

Kinda. Marvelous has a habit of taking 1 step foward and 2 steps back with each game. They'll add one or two cool new features but then take away some that should have been the norm, so there's never really a perfect game, since one game will always have something the other dosen't. The one that probablly got the closest to having the most features without taking much away would be probably Animal Parade on Wii. An example of a game that took away too much and didn't add enough would be Grand Bazaar, it added a interesting feature, the Bazaar, but the rest of the game lacked the substance the rest had. (NPC's barely had any dialogue, even the marrigable ones, festivals were nothing special and each one was pretty much the same, the days were way too long so you ended up doing nothing until you could water your crops again and go to bed, Your children are generic and didn't do much at all and never left the house as long as I played, and the marriage rivals didn't even marry.)
Rune Factory 4 was announced quite a while ago for the 3DS.

Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns launches for 3DS later this month.
It's now official from Natsume.com: November 1.
hmmm same day as uncharted 3 ehhhhh i dont know man aw maybe i'll get it but then again i do have 8 other games on preorder including super mario 3D Land and mario kart 7
So I am wondering has anyone around here played Harvest Moon: The Tale of Two Towns for either the 3DS or DS. I am a huge fan of the HM series and I am wondering if this one is as good as the other ones and also if there is a huge difference between the 3DS and DS versions.

The 3DS version is plagued by lag and freezing, at least for a lot of people. Otherwise, the only differences between the two are the 3DS' addition of an animal-petting mini-game that let you increase your animals' heart rating more quickly and the ability to StreetPass.
