My god... The last level. It's a ****ing joke. A joke where the guy who come up with this game decided it'd be fun to base an entire level around constant instant deaths the player can't see coming and has to time exactly and immediately to avoid, and the entire level is also based around playing through it enough times to memorize everything that's going to happen, because there are invisible enemies. The invisible enemies have shadows, but in this level they only appear on terrains and at angles where you can't see them. At all.
A good idea. This final level was a good ****ing idea full of good game design and it's a great big "Thank you for buying this game and supporting me!" to each and every person who has bought and will ever buy this game.
THANKYOU. I feel exactly the same way, the final level isn't challenging, hell it took me longer to beat the bee boss than this level. It's just cheap.
It's a TERRIBLE way to end the game, there's hardly any skill to it, just remember "okay the game is going to screw me over here... here... and here" Honestly at the end I just tanked the damage and invincibility frames because I found when you got hit, it delayed your jump.. thus killing me.. I think this level has made me hate the game. I disliked it before, but I think I can say this is a terrible game. I don't care if it's their first, the game lacks basic game design... :/
Shame this is a $20 release... Anyway, do you guys know of any similar games? I have theatrhythm, rhythm thief already. I hate Elite Beat Agents, played all the taiko no tatsujin games & rhythm heaven. Anything less common I haven't played?? I'm in the musical mood now.. ordered Project Diva xD
I think I'm going to get this. I almost swore it off after the huge difficulty spike with the bee boss and the Pokemon level, but then I found out that the demo was just poorly put together. Those weren't World 1 challenges. -_-
Currently Playing: The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (PC)

I like Osu! Tatake Ouendan quite a bit, but it's similar to Elite Beat Agents, so I can't recommend it. I heard the GBA Rhythm Tengoku is better than the DS game, but I haven't played it.
Also, a warning to the perfectionists out there: This game will break you. You're never going to get a perfect score on any of these levels, so just go for GOOD scores. ... Leaderboards really REALLY would've helped this game. There should be an update for that, along with Pokemon DLC, though at a reasonable price. DLC is very expensive for some reason, and not just on Nintendo games.
Hmm, I enjoyed Pulseman and Drill Dozer a lot, but this doesn't look up to their standard. I also enjoy rhythm games, but not when the timing is too tight.
Maybe I'll wait for a sale. No matter how long that takes.

Leaderboards? The scores are too limited for that...

Where are you getting at with HarmoKnight being easy? I just finished World 2. Love the game to peices & truly hope & pray it get's a sequel because it's one of the best e-shop games I've ever played besides crashmo, & Order Up & a few other's.
You can say the game is easy but to other's like me it's not. I still love the game & like a good challenge as for a game that will keep me busy for a while. If is was to easy I would have been bored because would have finished it to quickly. I like how they have 8 worlds in the game.
I'm praying this game defently get's a sequel. It deserves it. As for comparing it to other rythm games. The only other rythm game I've played is:
Disney Stitch Jam - DS
With Lilo & Stitch in the game one of my favorite games personally.
Say what you want but HarmoKnight is really good & I'm glad I spent the money on the game.
Well worth it in my opinion.
Happy Gaming! (^_^)
In my time spent lurking around on this website, I'd like to say... I'm pretty sure you've downloaded EVERYTHING on the eShop and you have NEVER found a game you didn't love. You're a fascinating subject. You're welcome to join the Rhythm Thief fandom anytime--you're guaranteed to fall in love with the greatest rhythm game of all time.
So to get this straight... I'm the only one who likes the game and has no problem with it's difficulty curve? I mean it gets hard, especially (spoiler) the baroque trial and final trial in the hidden world, but it's not like it's unbeatable. I've almost got all of the artwork in the non-boss/miniboss stages. just missing two from that secret world...

My problem with the game is that the World 1 boss is harder than most world 5 stages... The difficulty curve is so inconsistent. In world 8 I managed to get a great on the first 4 levels on my first try... yet the clock one took me like 20 minutes to beat, and the last one? HA. that's just more of a screw you level than ACTUALLY being hard.
Leaderboards? The scores are too limited for that...
I would like some sort of system in the game to tell you the maximum score in the level. The charging mechanic is so bullshit that it only works some of the time meaning there's no way to start a level and be like "Okay, so max score is 100 in this level" The only way i found out max scores is forums.. but even then the debate is "I got 88" "Oh well I get 92... edit 93." etc. And don't think numbers like 100 / 50 / 85 etc are the max note score, oh know some levels its like 41... ugh.
Hmm, I enjoyed Pulseman and Drill Dozer a lot, but this doesn't look up to their standard
Basically my issue with the game. $20, by GameFreak, feels like a "my indie game on steam for $10" type game. Way overpriced, as is Pokedex3DPro. If the game ever goes below $10 pick it up.. but have fun waiting till 2017 playing on your 5DSiLiteXL
I actually like it a lot...and this is coming from someone who was initially turned off by the demo. Then again, I'm not really going for "Great" rankings on every stage. I'll try, don't get me wrong, but if I don't get them I won't go nuts over it. As long as I get to finish all the levels in this one I'm happy.
So I guess that sharp difficulty curve doesn't apply to my needs...barring the final level, which I still haven't finished and which I concede is incredibly cheap.
HarmoKnight's difficulty doesn't scale like normal video games. The earlier levels have simpler beats, making the game easier to understand, but once you know how to play (and use charge attacks), pretty much every level in the game is equally challenging.
The demo suffers from poor stage choice for that reason. The Pokemon and boss stages are not from World 1 and are supposed to be played by people who don't have the basics down yet.
It's not really that crazy. I managed to beat it without pulling too much hair out.
Also, the demo is weird in that one stage (the pokemon one I think) is actually from the third world. The first world is not as bad as the demo is presenting it.
Formally called brewsky before becoming the lovable, adorable Yoshi.
Now playing:
Final Fantasy XIV (PC) | The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Switch) | Celeste (Switch)
It's not that hard but I do find it somewhat ridiculous that you cannot afford to mess up once during the boss stages if you want the best ranking. I can nail the button combos just fine but when it comes to moving with the d-pad......

I got a "Great" rating in every level of the game, both in normal and fast modes. I didn't think it was too hard, compared to most other rhythm games I've played. Awesome game BTW!
