I don't like Pokémon ORAS's music. They basically removed the trumpets which made the original Hoenn so epic, made the music unnecessarily hyperactive and it just sounds less prominent. I feel like they've added so much background noise that it just loses the magic. Take the team aqua/magma music, for example:

Remake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XtijJpedknI
What are your thoughts?
Not that I didn't like the trumpets, but I feel that fleshing out the songs with background tracks and making the trumpet less prevalent throughout the soundtrack as a whole improved the overall quality of the music. Granted, that's just me, and I don't have very many memories of playing RSE as a kid, so that nostalgia just isn't there.

It's much better without tbh.. some of the soundtracks do still have trumpets and they seem kinda out of place.. the more 3 dimenstional feel of the game doesn't match up with the original music. Even the DPP music in online battles sounds off.
so you don't like the music because it doesn't sound like it did ten years ago on different games. why don't you judge music on its own merits, not comparing it to something you wish it sounded like. that's how to really critique
It's more miss than hit, while similar it's not a very good representation of themes back then...
And for a lack of better word, some of them sound like something you hear on a children's show. For instance Petalburg's theme, is just not right.

I like it. The trumpets are less pronounced but it felt really close to the original at the same time. It felt like it didn't take away from the old soundtrack but still it was up to the standards of X and Y. Often even better. I mean compare that pathetic excuse for a Gym Leader theme in X and Y with this remixed piece of epicness:
I actually like the music much more than X/Ys, that alone makes for a much better Pokémon game (and that's not even taking the story, characters etc. into account). It's got just enough oomph while at the same time not overdoing it. My advice, don't ever compare remakes to originals if they're more than mere HD rereleases. I know people will eventually do that, but they more often than not end up disappointed IMO.
