If the big N want's to stay ahead of the curve they need to up their releases per week in the Eshop. Find a way to appeal to the hardcore and also the casual gamer. With the price drop it will help get units in peoples hands. But the Lives or Dies in the Digital aspect of things.
If you're talking about illegal pirating people have been doing that for years. Nintendo isn't going anywhere and their handheld market is doing just fine. You really think a bunch of complaining on some forum is going to make them increase e shop downloads? They don't hang around reading this stuff and giving a damn what we think.

what you need to remember is that nintendo is in no way going to release all of their games straight after the release of the eShop. if they did that it would be nice at first, but after a while people would complain again because the releases would have dried up. we all know that 3rd`s won`t push their back catalogues as much as nintendo because of the costs involved in getting games re-rated, and the fact that some ratings boards take far too long to deal with the processes involved. wit that in mind, nintendo should atleast offer some sort of incentive to the 3rd`s to get their older games on the eShop, or it will end up going very stale very quickly, just like what happened on the wii.
It'll be largely the same thing we went through with the Wii VC. There'll be good weeks and bad. People will complain and moan. Lather, rinse and repeat.

Good point. But one game a week is ridiculous they can manage four a week seems more reasonable.. I rather see quality over quantity but imo they need to rethink their marketing strategy.
Think of it this way. If everyday was a sunny day. Then what's a sunny day? You can't just expect mind blowing downloads with every update. If they suddenly uploaded 200 games all at once there'd be no point to the weekly update. Once in a while a nice surprise will come along.

The digital era is not killing Nintendo, it's just hindering them. At this point, the only thing that will kill Nintendo is themselves.

which is true, at whatever angle you look at it. the way they mess around with the 3rd party dev`s, minimal advertising, shoddy online services, not releasing games in other territories, the list goes on. thing is, the are just as many negative points about nintendo as there are positive ones. it`s just the negative points about nintendo just seem exceedingly irritating at times, and nintendo are very stubborn to change their ways. i would have thought that after yamuachi-san stepped down and iwata-san took over, things would have changed for the better.
just by letting their old NES, advance and SNES classics available as eshop content, they will stay put. they really shoudnt keep the snes out of the 3ds. im pretty sure people will jump on such titles, including me.
they also do need to encourage third party and indie creators too. when i see a game like cave story or alpha bounce on my 3ds, it makes me feel i need more. i dont know how they proceed, but they should make a massive approach to these kind of developpers. helping them making their work to see the light.

my thoughts exactly. I'm hoping Nintendo sees the light.
Digital Era is NOT killing Nintendo. If anything it's hurting Nintendo and that cause of that isn't the digital era it's Nintendo's habit of dragging it's feet with new technology.
I wish people would stop with this 'Nintendo is dying' just because they cut the 3DS Price. Nothing is killing Nintendo.
My sentiments exactly. I'm about to explode like a ticking time bomb with all of this negativity toward Nintendo. Nintendo is just plain fine and they're going to quite impressively well this Holiday season thanks to the price drop, and the solid Q4 release line up in Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 7, Star Fox 64 3D and Kid Icarus Uprising although Europeans won't get the latter till next year.

I would have wrote all that too if I could be bothered to write another short paragraph to people saying 'Nintendo is Dying' and all that crap.
I don't think it's killing them. I just think they are slower than other companies to embrace that kind of functionality. They'll get there in due time.
I mean the eShop is a lot better than what the Wii offered and the 3DS has a lot more online capabilities than other Nintendo systems. They're getting there, only very slowly.

No it's not. Unless I use the search function, I can't find jack crap on the eShop. At least on the Wii shop I could find stuff just by going to the newest games section, which ordered the entire library by release date.

I like the eShop for its rotation of titles. That way certain games can have the spotlight on one week, then others in other weeks
