Topic: Castlevania for 3DS

By the end of 2010 Konami did launch a cryptic message: "If you wish it pretty much, there will be a Castlevania for 3DS". Also there were rumors indicating that it was already in production. But since then, nothing else. Castlevania (former Vampire Killer) has been always one of the two main Konami's battlehorses for almost every console with the sad exception of the Wii and NGC (except WiiWare). I really would like to have this saga continued with the 3DS, as much as I did want this saga continued for the Wii in the past.

I'm starting to worry about the series as a whole. I don't want it to turn into God of War and be like that recent PS3 game.
3DS seems like the only reasonable system for the next Castlevania. I'd like to know what Konami is up to in regards to the series. We need some info on this quick.
Oh and before the Wii draws it's last breath could we please get Bloodlines on VC? Come on Konami show some support!

In a matter a fact I also read something about konami working on a castlevania for 3DS! And as much as I love the metroidvania style, I would love even more if they returned the series to it's more action/adventure based style of Super Castlevania IV !!
As for the actual state of the series, I gotta recomend Castlevania Rebirth!!It was my first wiiware title and it is one awesome game! The same I can't say about Judgement for wii, despite the good graphics, cool music and crazy looking characters it sadly fell well behind of what we expect from a castlevania game and even from a regular fighting game.

I'm hoping for a 3DS sequel to Aria/Dawn of Sorrow or Order of Ecclesia. Konami has had 3 great DS games for the series, and I hope they continue the tradition of 2D style games for the 3DS. If they do decide to change and bring a Castlevania game similar to Lords of Shadow then I'll still try it, but I won't be as hyped for it.

First Zeldas were 2D and now the 3D ones seem to be well accepted by the users, I dont understand why it would be different for Castlevania which has been 3D since the times of N64 for every console except DS due its obvious limitations.

I want one about the battle of 1999. Having a more in-depth look on Julius would be awesome.

But with Zelda, it originally was not a side-scroller. The basic game play is still the same with 3D graphics. With Castlevania the originals are all side-scrollers, therefore a different game in 3D. Not what most Castlevania fans wanted.

I enjoyed Castlevania Lament of Sorrow (forgot the exact name) on PS2. That game got me into the CV games. And it's one of my favorites

To be fair, a huge portion of the work put into Ocarina of Time was focused on the gameplay. It wasn't as simple as "Zelda in 3D".

The N64 Castlevania games could have been really great if they had good controls, camera AI, battle systems, and level design. I think that kind of game would work well on the 3DS, especially since depth perception would make the platforming elements better.

Honestly, I'd take another mediocre at best 3D Castlevania over Lords of Unoriginality

Didn't they have the original Castlevania running as a 3D classic during the 3DS E3, I think that would be pretty cool. I don't know if I could play another Metroidvania style game, it's getting really old.

@ Retro_Gamer
The problem with the Non Metroid Vanias is they are so short. I agree though the Metroidvania thing is getting a bit tired.
Not sure where the series can go from here.

You are totally right! The HD Castlevania game.....is not really a Castlevania game.....not even in the shadow of Super Castlevania 4!

I just hope it's not the God of War style game play they did with Lords of Shadow. Anyway for 3DS, maybe they could do something like the Dracula X chronicles in 3D.

@Mandoble - Judgment was on Wii.

Why did everyone have so many problems with Lords of Shadow? I really enjoyed it...would've preferred a bit more of an A-RPG presentation, but I found it among the best of this generations 3d beat-em-up style games. Give me Lord's combat mechanics and a combination of Order of Ecclesia and Lament of Innocence's gameplay styles and I'm all over it.

Granted, 3DS will probably get some type of on-rails glider game or a castlevania fishing minigame or something....

Yep, and WiiSports was on the wii too, but this topic is about Castlevania. And yep, Konami bretrayed all the Castlevania fans putting that name behind a Wii game that has nothing in common with the saga, it is like creating a Sudoku game and naming it Mario Karts Judgement.

....was that supposed to be a burn? And what does bretrayed mean? And why is Mario Kart plural?

To be honest their hasn't been a good Castlevania since "Castlevania Portrait of Ruin", and that was like 5 years ago. Konami really needs to end the series........same with Square Enix with Final Fantasy.

What was wrong with Order of Eclesia?
But eh, what do I care...One Metroidvania per system is enough for me. While i felt dawn of Sorry was pretty darn good, there's no way that I'd want to do the same thing over in POR or OOE....However, I'd definitly pick up the next Metoidvania 3DS sequal. But I'd much prefer a tough as nails traditional side scroller.

ReBirth was a nice suprise, but it felt like an arcadey appetizer in comparison to the much more meatier and superior traditional titles in the franchise. And as for Bloodlines, please release it all ready Konami. I don't want to have to buy a Genesis just to exprience it...Because I won't.

Order Of Ecelsia was lackluster in design and originality, it simply offered nothing new to the series

Anyway if Konami decides to make Castlevania for the 3DS, I'm pretty sure It'll be a repeat of the same distress the games have been in for a few years now. You don't have to believe my opinion on it but hey, it's your money.

There was nothing wrong with Order of Ecclesia. Next to Dawn of Sorrow it's my favorite DS Castlevania. I thought Portrait of Ruin was the dissapointing one. Still good but my least favorite. If any game in the series went too far it was Lords of Shadow. That's not Castlevania. It's God of War in disguise.

@ Saber
End the series? Are you insane? There's still plenty life left in Castlevania. No reason to retire the series all together.
Why don't we just kill off Mario while we're at it?
Hasn't that gone on long enough too? Sheesh.
