I did too once. Until I bought FarCry 3 and it smelled like a trash heap.

No, that's not commentary on the game. The inside of the case literally smelled like garbage.

With as much as a quarter of the sales in Japan digital, I wonder if we'll see NoA really push the digital version stateside. I know they tout the digital versions of retail releases, but I wonder if they'll be shouting from the mountains about the digital version of a New Leaf.

I'll definitely get this digitally if there is some sort of discount or promotion (for instance, if I can earn more Club Nintendo points for the downloadable version than the retail version).

Downloading, mostly as I've decided to go full digital on my 3DS and WiiU.

But even if I was sticking to cartridges, this would be a shoe in for download. It is the perfect handheld game, I'd always want it with me so I could play quick spurts.

I didn't even think about this till I was checking prices earlier but most retailers are taking pre-orders for $35 in the US (with no indication it being a special pre-order price). I wonder if Nintendo will go that route with the the digital version.

On a semi side, odd note...Gamestop is taking pre-orders for the LEGO Undercover game for a weirdly priced $33 US.

my pre-order for my grandson at Gamestoppo was $35, so it seems to be the going price.

There will be plenty of DLC on the way at that price... $10.90 for a hat pack anyone

I wish a 3DS game would cost $35 in Australia! It's double that price. Hopefully Nintendo will drop it $60 so it will match retail prices. I'm definitely downloading this one. I recently downloaded Luigi's Mansion and decided to go all digital from here on.

i'm not yet ready to go all digital, but AC:NL is one that just seems to belong on the unit to be played whenever. but i think my grandson will be better with the retail version. it's good to have choices, i guess.

I'm getting retail. Also, this game is showing up as $34.99 on Gamestop's website as well as Amazon. Don't be fooled into thinking that price is some sort of eShop sale. (At least for NA, that is).

The new Donkey Kong game for 3DS is showing up at that same price on Amazon as well. Maybe all first-party 3DS games will be launching at that price beginning this summer?

@AbeVigoda That would be nice. 1/8 off isn't a huge loss for Nintendo, but it's still nice. $5 for DLC on new games.

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

It really depends on your SD card space or how often you play it.
I have a 32GB SD card with 188,384 blocks left which has Super Mario 3D Land, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Mario Kart 7, Paper Mario Sticker Star, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Starfox 64 3D, tons of 3DS download games, GB games, and the ambassador games.
So ya, I would say digital.

EDIT: Oh ya, and I always have Tetris Axis in the card port, which isn't available on the eShop. It's the best Tetris game ever, IMO, BTW.

What if you broke or lost your 3DS? Wouldn't all your games be lost too? That's quite an investment to have just suddenly gone. Guard your handheld with your life!!!!

Well, nothing is completely fool proof, but Nintendo will help you fix a problem if you communicate with them. I've heard people losing their games after a repair, and that's NOT supposed to happen. I've needed Nintendo to repair my Wii's memory unit, and I told them I wanted my Wiiware and VC games to be replaced. They can look at your Club Nintendo and fix alot of issues people complain about regularly.
I take care of my things, so there's like less than 0.01% chance of my devices being messed up or lost.
If I repair a console under warranty, it's free, out of warranty, $80.
My brother has dropped my 3DS XL on concrete above 3.5 feet 2 times, and once above 3.5 feet on hardwood floor. They don't break easy.

EDIT: Oh ya, my brother dropped my regular 3DS when I had it multiple times, too, along with every DS he's ever had. My regular 3DS had white plastic burns on the corners from being dropped at least 20 times on hard floor, and my brothers DSi is chipped past the first layer of casing on its corners. My 3DS charger even got accidentally put in 3 day old goopy drink, at it still worked after I washed it out and let it dry. These things are pretty hard ro break from my experience.

Does anyone know how many blocks a clean 16 GB SD Card has on it?

Mine had around 100,000 blocks on it, I believe.
