I love my 3ds! Nintendo said they had it exactly as they wanted the perfect console. I don't want a second circle pad. I do want bigger rubber cushions to stop the screen getting marked when closed ( it's always cleanable with a cloth though) I want the music player to load up music faster I want a Special Edition Chrome ( Metal bodied) body 3ds with a mirror finish - cool! Or a tItanium body or eben a Carbon fibre body!
The cause of the problem where the 3DS sound application takes longer to load the file listing is because the MP3s have image covers attached to them. Use a software such as Mp3tag to remove any images from within the music files. The list will then load much faster.
............ Huh....well what do you know? lol Is iTunes able to do this? Since I have that already. If not can this thing can remove the image all at once? I don't want to have to go through every single file, lol.

Keep it PG-13-ish.
A lot of you are saying things that could easily be done through software updates. And some other things, the screens really don't need to be bigger, I don't know why people want that, and I like the glossy finish so much better than matte so i really hope they keep that. But anyways, I think the 3DS is near perfect, it just has a few things that could be changed in a hardware revision.
-Better battery life (the current battery really isn't that bad, but it could easily be improved) -Stronger hinge (everyone either has a floppy one or a creaky one, this needs to be adjusted) -Overall better build quality (it feels so fragile, complete opposite of how the DS Lite felt) -Improved DS backwards compatibility (As in, make the resolution better. Add contrast, increase saturation, just add some sort of filtering cause it looks pretty bad)
make the bottom screen 3d, ←(unlikely), stronger l&r buttons, no marks on top screen when closed from bottom screen, ability to have streetpass on while the 3ds is opened, an usb keyboard, a weather channel, nintendo video takes up less room, you can turn the friend notification orange flashing light off, you can choose which puzzle piece you start with, more free apps, free carrying case comes with system, youtube app, youtube on internet briwser, faster internet browser, more battery life, the ability to store retail games on your 3ds without the cartidridge, whew.

*Larger L and R buttons. Smoother too. *Widen the system horizontally (make it the same length as it with the circle pad pro on) *Widescreen bottom screen *Longer Battery Life!! *Second Circle Pad *2 Stylus slots (with both styluses in them) *More 3D options *Matte finish (like on the DSi)
"-When you press "home" and close the screen, it doesn't stop loading"
Huh? You mean game doesn't pause? I don't see any use in that, I think it would be stupid. Unless you mean there isn't that little freeze before it happens but I find even that helpful because then I know my 3D registered the button press.
@Emaan1 I agree with everything you said! I mean these problems aren't as terrible as everyone makes them out to be, but they still need fixing. No need to add any new software or anything on the next model... Just improve battery life, build and a second Circle Pad for the sake of it.
Gifting!!! Voice chat app! YouTube app! HTML5 web browser! Okay, that's it. Oh, and post videos to Gmail!
That's software. As for hardware: The 3DS can't fit much more in its current form, so an XL is a must. Doing ZR/ZL button like the original Classic Controller for Wii + inverted analog sticks would be a must, built in. A 5MP camera would be nice, and add a 3D switch so those who want to disable 3D without messing w/ parental controls who are worried about bumping the slider are happy(ier). Last, a spring/fall 2013 release, and price that doesn't make Nintendo lose even more money w/ their slightly bad situation ($210?). You know, realistic goals, not like "make it out of pure gold and have it make all my dreams come true!" We know that's impossible.

How about camera flash? I know we have low light but you can't use that in Home-Camera and as far as I know they can't simply update for it.

Yeah, great. Best idea compilation ever up there. EDIT: Oh, and make voice chat video chat!
Haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but the 3D sweet spot could be removed with multiple view autostereoscopy rather than the single view the 3DS uses. With multiple view, you can use many images (like, say, 16 images would give you 8 views), so you can move horizontaly past the screen and still see the 3D effect. It also adds to the immersion by giving the illusion that you are moving around the object.
I wanted to revive this topic since April's Nintendo Direct happened.
I'm very glad folders are coming out. I also love that Nintendo's finally fixing those course glitches in Mario Kart 7, and the fact that they said they had no plans to do that before also increases the chances of GBA games for non-Ambassadors (which they also said they had no plans to do).
What I'm still hoping for...
Flipnote Memo - This is the only DSi feature that's still missing in the 3DS since Swapnote replaced Pitcochat.
Ability to do multiplayer with all VC games.
Ability to search on the eShop by genres (like the Wii's shop) along with the weekly "categories".
(I gave up on the app that let's you play DSiware from the SD card, but folders more than make up for it.)

how does the 3ds scratch its own screen! i never had that problem! i bring it everywhere too. going number 2 and enjoying MK7 and Samurai Warriors Chronicals!
Every single menu screen on the 3DS and eshop should be fully workable with both the touch screen AND with button controls. It's infuriating to have to pull out the (poorly placed) stylus just so I can click the Play button on an eshop preview video.
Also, I wish the raised area around the touch screen was more flush with the system so cleaning wouldn't be such a hassle, and that the 3D slider was less flimsy (it should be similar to the volume control in terms of feel and weight).
