Topic: 3D Classics: Kid Icarus - impressions

Ok. Does anyone know when this will be released in America? I can't wait for it. I also want "Of Myths and Monsters" for the 3DS VC. I know that Europe has a free game scheme going on with this game and I hope they do the same in America! I have many games to register/survey and I'm just waiting to see if we have a release date. Has anyone in Europe played this yet and what did you think?

I don't think they've even confirmed a US release yet, have they? I expect it will come eventually, but i don't know if it's even been announced yet for the US.

Also, it's not out in Europe until Thursday, i think.

Nintendo Power has announced it for America. They're's no specific release date yet though.

Makes me think of Zelda combined with Ice Climber. I have enjoyed the past 20 mins I spent on it .

Played for less than 5 minutes, but I love it already.

Havent played much, but KI looked and played well. The 3D-effect adds a nice and deep background atmosphere to the game. And a nice and long manual completes the package to me. Possibly the best 3DClassic so far.

But generally I really dont like the 3DClassic main theme. Its one big, terrible noise! N should resample them.

It looks great but it is a pretty awful game. And as above, the 3DClassic main theme is a crime against sound!

@YorkshireNed. Agree. The 3D effect looks great but the game just seems too archaic for me to bother with. Can't see this one pulling me away from MK7 / SMB3DL or Pullblox any time soon!!! Still at least it was free.

I can't wait to dig into this game again after all these years... I hope it comes to the states soon

Speaking of 3D Classics, has anyone noticed how much louder the games are than other eShop and retail games?

Ah, thanks @lordtendoboy I haven't really noticed that myself, but apparently this game (Kid Icarus 3D Classics) has a much more noticeable higher volume than other games, the review states.

Yeah, Kirby's Adventure is also really loud compared to other eShop and retail games.

I was suprised by how much I enjoyed this title. The actual gameplay is great considering it's an NES game, It comes out better than at least 6 of the Ambassador NES titles. There are some issues of course, but nothing huge. The 3D Classic makeover I am once again impressed with, just like with Kirby's Adventure. Although some may disagree I think Kirby's Adventure and Kid Icarus got good 3D effects, and the backgrounds are suprisingly fitting, and add a nice touch to the gameplay. My favourite 3D Classic so far. 8/10. (Kirby's Aventure - 8/10, Excitebike - 6/10)

Note: Yes the 3D Classics have a much higher volume than other games, but it's good in a way, as most games have a max volume at around what I'd like to be hearing, its good to have one where it's at halfway like it logically should be. The 3D Classic theme music is abysmal though, and brings down every 3D Classic experience as soon as you open it. I wont be buying Xevious, Twinbee, or Urban champion since I dont think they're worth it - so that leaves me with 3/6 3D Classics. I do hope they make a few more in the future - obviously with more popular titles.

What is the 3D classics theme? What's so bad about it D:

I thought it was alright when I got excitebike for free, kind of annoying. But then I realised they use it in every 3D Classic. Kind of a mood killer before the much more different music of Kirby or Kid icarus that are on the next menu.
