Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Celebrating Launch With Twitch Streams

Oh wow, I don’t remember Nintendo ever doing sponsored streams for their games, this is certainly a unique advertising approach. (I could be wrong, I don’t really keep up with stuff like that 😆)

Personally I don’t plan to watch, I’ll be busy playing the game myself. Hopefully the streams will convince some people (who wouldn’t have otherwise considered purchasing) to get it!

Really cool to see stuff like this! Seeing Nintendo actually collab with creators is a welcome sight. I'm gonna be staying away from gameplay vids until I finish the game. Before I watch anyone else though, there's a certain blue monster I'm eager to see experience the game!

@FishyS I almost exclusively just watched Nintendo Directs for Nintendo news when Mario Maker 2 was releasing, so I was not aware of that event! Sounds like it was somewhat similar to this one!

Fair, so much free advertising for Nintendo, it’s definitely a win-win situation. Cool to see Nintendo interacting with it’s fanbase some, as it doesn’t happen too often.

I'm surprised Nintendo haven't done a lawsuit vs the streamers already, because it's 100% illegal to stream anything Nintendo make.

I'll be playing it but what would have been better was a new one. I hope this generation of consoles is the end of the remake, remade, retrograde fad....

How do companies always find 'influencers' that I have never heard of for PR events?

I will say the amount of marketing work put behind this remake has been unbelievable to say the least. Like the amount of effort is on the tier of a mainline Zelda release at this point

@PikminMarioKirby Nintendo Canada has done a few sponsored streams in the past. It’s still very rare, with it being 4+ years since they last did their series of streams, but even in that one, they collaborated with TheDragonFeeney multiple times.

Hasn't Nintendo been sending early copies to streamers for a long time? I remember Gothalion and others were playing BOTW a week early on stream. I don't remember them promoting streamers like this but this definitely isn't the first time they've used the platform for marketing.

@Toastmaster Not sure if you are trolling but Nintendo is not very strict when it comes to streaming their games nowadays.

@IceEarthGuard Well a few years ago Nintendo were exposed with making a deal with Twitch in exchange for them banning Project M (Super Smash Bros. Brawl Mod) from being streamed on their site. In the end Nintendo didn't contribute their end of the bargain despite Twitch doing exactly what they wanted.

@PipeGuy64Bit Well that is a Mod thing for the game. I was just talking about their games in their original form, new and old.

Wish I was interested in revisiting this game, looks like a transition year for Nintendo unless a direct shocks me...
