Watch_Dogs for Wii U will never come out imp. To everyone who seems to be pissed, sry about this but, none of this is to be put on either EA or UBIsoft. This is all Nintendo's doing for marketing their product as a bunch of school boys. If more consoles had been sold it would be a no brainer for the bigger companies to develop for it, not because the 3rd parties would like Nintendo and the Wii U more; but because it would be financially responsible. Though I love my Wii U and my 3DS, I don't fail to realize: Nintendo did this themselves and they did this to their fans. :-(

Then again. I buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendogames and the occasional jRPG and let be PC do the rest because after all; the Xbox1 and PS4 seems nothing more than a small PC with cool controllers and it's basically the same type of games roaming the 2 consoles. :-) FPS on PC IMP!

@outburst A possible solution to this could be, if Platinum does what the Mass Effect 3 devs did with the Wii U edition. Sum up the story of the previous game with some kind of cartoon interactive comic thing. Or U could simply just read the story of Bayonetta 1 on the internet.. :-) Just an idea.

@Kaboom I agree. This idea is horrible. And how exactly is this going to boost wii u sales. The cross platform 3ds and wii u virtual console thing would generate way more attention knowing that the 3ds has sold well. So that would give all 3ds owners a little reason to buy a wii u. But even so I don't see Nintendo moving any mountains with ANY virtual console release. Nintendo needs to appeal to either hardcore or the casual gaming community. And right now it seems that they are only appealing to already dedicated Nintendo fans such as myself. :-)

I might just wait for the Wii U version, though it's hard for me to see why I should do so. But in the end the Wii U needs the fans support atm. But one thing is for sure. If Watch Dogs on Wii U sucks as much as the rest of the multiplatform 3rd Pgames these past 6 months, this might just be the last straw.

I think it's lame that the Wii U and 3ds doesn't have the same VC library. And it's lame that you have to purchase VC titles twice if you want them on your Wii U and on the go with your 3DS. I get it, it's a matter of money but still. Give a little something to the real fans.. :-)

The Wii U needs third party support because, the concept of the gamepad isn't enough by itself. This is not another Wii success even tough Nintendo still thinks that it has the potential. I think it would be wrong to presume that the Wii U needs GTA, FIFA or Watch Dogs for that matter since the majority of the gamer population are already looking to PS4 XONE and PC for those type of games. Nintendo needs very awesome exclusive 3Party games that support the gamepads uniqueness. No-one cares about Nintendo when it comes to games like GTA etc. because those games excists elsewhere. Innovation, fun and cheapness is Nintendo's strong site in this race. And PLEASE OH PLEASE. This story about 3party tripleAtitles being prioritised less on Nintendo consoles is hardly news anymore. It's been like this for the past 10 years. :-)

schizor commented on Intriguing Data Helps Explain Nintendo's Smart...:

I think the only 2 things needed on smart devices are 1. The Eshop. Make it easier to purchase games. 2. Miiverse. Don't limit the good things about the Wii U to Wii U/3DS owners only. If they made Miiverse bigger so that more people could join "without owning a Nintendo console". That would progress both sales and "Brand awareness". :-) Some kind of Android lookalike go online and buy a game through your browser or smartdevice and the Wii U's standby function would automatically start downloading and installing, that would be a cool feature. ;)

@Capt_N I just read your post and I very much agree with you. :-)
Price cut is imo the only possible way to turn this around. Make the Wii U the best deal by making it the absolutely cheapest home-console you can buy. Fire away great Firstpartygames and BOOM! "just like Nintendo did with the 3DS". no one really cared about the 3D-effect just like no one really cares about the gamepad. The thing people seem to care about is 1. Is it cheap. 2. Does it have great games. But who knows. Nintendo might make something amazing :-)

I think the way to go might be strong, firstparty/Nintendo games. The Legend of Zelda please..... I really don't see Nintendo pulling another Wii-success with the Wii U. But on the other hand. I don't see Nintendo failing with the Wii U either. Maybe all this comes down to one thing, sales-projections. Even though Nintendo aims high and all fans wants the Wii U to sell over 100 million units like the Wii. That most likely won't happen. But that still doesn't mean that the Wii U is doomed or a failure or whatever.

I don't see Nintendo making a product as popular as Wii Sports, focusing only on the gamepad. The gamepad, even though I LOVE IT, is really old news, and not a game changer. The cool thing about the Wii back in 2006 was the motion controls combined with wii-sports. They made a new trend with Wii-sports, and the gamepad "even though I LOVE IT" ;-) Is still only a tablet, and the casual-game-market that Nintendo conquered with Wii-sports, and now trying to speak to with the gamepad is probably already under the influence of a smart-device.

Being a Nintendofan. It hurts me to say that Nintendo has been way to arrogant in these last few years. Both the 3ds and Wii U are made to survive on their predecessors succes. Nintendo DS -> 3DS Nintendo Wii -> Wii U. You would think that they learned from their mistakes following the very slow start of the 3DS. Sure the 3ds picked up, but they went and did exactly the same thing with the Wii U. People still fail to see that the Wii U is a completelynew console rather then just a meer accessory to the Wii. It's a shame because both the 3DS and Wii U are simply amazing. Nintendo's Wii U will in my opinion not be discontinued and nor will it fail completely. But it will not finish First or second in the in the Nextgen race of being a top seller, unless we see mayor improvements in commercialization, 3rd party support and console selling 3xA Nintendo titles.
IT HURTS! :-)

The Wii U lags the mass appeal the Wii had. Nintendo needs some cool app or game that makes more people want to buy the console. I don't think the Wii U will be as great a success as Wii was. But I hope and believe that the Wii U won't be a total failure.

I hope for the best. IMO the only thing that matters is that nintendo ships enough wii u consoles to stay in the market and make more, new hardware for me to buy. I am very satisfied with my wii u as I was with my wii before it. This doesn't mean anything yet. The war has just begun. Godspeed everyone. ;-)

A.bit dramatic indeed. But I believe he has some good points = The market has changed with mobilegaming. But I will always buy Nintendo's consoles if I can get them at a reasonable price and I do think that some of the magic would disappear if Nintendo chose to only make software.

Classic... But then again, this is necessary if Nintendo wants to keep the 3DS domination going. This might show to be the right thing to do... Hell, I... almost want to go buy one just for "having the newest equipment".... :-)

I don't believe this to be completely true. Yes the gameplay is a huge factor, but if you take a game like The Last of Us which focus a lot on storytelling and setting, you can see that making an awesome game dosen't always require "new and fun gameplay styles". Also a game like Alan Wake did just that. However, making an EPIC game needs everything to be just spot on as of gameplay, setting, story, characters, style, music, graphics and so on. That's why The Legend of Zelda is the worlds most epic franchise. It has everything and Nintendo needs a different franchise matching the epicness of the Legend that is Zelda. :-)
