QUESTION: Has anyone ever completed the alternate room in the last castle where instead of fighting JENKIN THE GREAT you fall into water and a maze of spikes? I could swim through a portion of it but the margin for error is milimetres. I always imagined a secret ending where Alex Kidd found his father (as the mystery of his father is mentioned in the ending text).

I owned this back on the SNES. It had more ideas than EWJ but wasnt as rock hard in the difficulty department. As a result EWJ is superior. Also the music and artwork seemed to be weirder in EWJ.

I could finish this game without loosing a life back in the day (I was 9 years old). Getting all the secrets is definitely worth it. The alternate boss fight and ending are ridiculously cool. The hardest level in my opinion is Animal Antics when you control Squawks. I still remember the feeling of total satisfaction when I finally finished the level.

WARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
Controls are unresponisve, terrible frame rate that slows right down if too much is happening. Tracks are boring, cars are boring, music is awful. This is a real stinker. The arcade version was definitely more playable, but it still SUCKED!

Damo - Yes you are right, Art of Fighting cannot be compared to any the SF Series. SF rocks! Regarding the flow of the game, I believe that SNK purposely slowed down the action when a successful hit was landed to further emphasise the impact of the attack and to give the player time to appreciate their attack (especially when versing a mate). This is also true for the other 2 sequels of AOF.

I used to play this game a lot when I was 9 years old. It rocked then and I am sure that it would still rock now. Cute music and art work, rocking difficulty and superb controls. Being able to purchase upgrades keeps you coming back for more. I will definitely be getting this one.

I just downloaded this as I used to play it in the arcades back in the day. My fond memories have been replaced with glitchy hit registering, unresponsive controls and tedious gameplay. This game offers very limited fun. Not as good as Art Of Fighting.

I spent just as much money on this arcade game as I did on SF2. The rating of 2 stars does not do it any justice. Damo I suggest that you were never a fan of the game to give it such a low score. When compared to SF2 turbo it may seem sluggish, but it doesnt make it any less of a classic, the original SF2 is slow but still genius none the less.

This is the game I wanted when i downloaded the dreadfully inferior Mean Bean Machine. Puyo Puyo 2 is the craziest 2 player fun. Get a massive combo and hear hilarious screaming japanese jibberish before unloading an onslaught of puyos

I played this heaps on the Master System 2. The graphics look way better on the mega drive. If you like Shinobi, you will like this game. I will definitely be downloading it.

How are you supposed to beat the final area with only one lot of lives and magic? You gotta fight all the bosses one after the other and they are much harder/faster than usual. As soon as I am out of magic I am out of luck. Has anyone beaten it? Give me some tips.

Extremely happy with this game, very challenging in places (i have lost all my lives 8 times on one boss). Going between god mode to action mode is pure genius. I wish I had owned this title "back in the day". Worth every point.

This game rocked back in the day and it will rock now. I never beat the final boss, I could not figure his pattern out, no matter how may times I played him. Does anyone know how?

This game has some nice ideas but if you die after level 2-3 your pretty much screwed (unless you cheat). I seem to keep coming back to this one, but only for 10-15 mins at a time. After which I cant stop humming the music! It is worth the Wii points.

I downloaded this because of a case of mistaken identity. I thought it was this mad shooter that I used to play on table top cabinets back in the arcade days. The only thing mad about this game is the way it made me feel when I realised I paid money for it. I wish Nintendo had a redemtion feature for Wii points... oh well

sam commented on Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine:

I downloaded this game hoping to fill the Super Puyo Puyo void. While the general game is very close to Super Puyo Puyo, it has been stripped of the over the top japanese music, voices and character design that made it a classic. You can't help but notice the differences. Be wary of spending your valuable Wii points.

I prefer other R-Type over this version. The hardest thing about this game is avoiding the walls/scenery/rotating objects rather than the enemies. It is no where near as fun as other Rtype games. More enemies would have been appreciated.
