A GamesIndustry.biz report reveals that February was a rather quiet month in the UK this year; the 1.7 million game sales total recorded last month sees a 15.4% drop year-on-year. Just under 900,000 of those sales were digital (although this figure doesn't include sales from all publishers), with the rest being physical.
Console sales have also fallen year-on-year, actually tumbling by 37% as PlayStation and Xbox fans look forward to new hardware later in the year. Switch was reportedly the best-selling console by a comfortable margin, with sales performing at a similar rate to this time last year. The Neon Red/Blue version of the console sold most.
The chart below shows February 2020's top 20 games across both physical and digital formats. Note that Nintendo doesn't share digital sales data, so Mario Kart 8 Deluxe's positon only reflects physical sales.

Who hasn’t got gta v yet it’s mad and shops like cex have full display units full of it can’t believe it still sells like that although I probably would buy it again if they released it for switch
Impressive, considering all the mass shortages on consoles.
The UK charts are always so boring imo
Can't wait to get a Switch so I can play a 10-year-old indie experiment operated by Microsoft.
@Gs69 I haven’t I can’t bare the massive download on pc.
@sandman89 my external hdd for my PS4 has just stopped working bought a new one but I’m not gonna redownload gta v it’s over 100gb
@Gs69
Yeah i'ts starting to get silly who buys GTA V these days ?
Especially when there are so many used copies around.
it being 100 gig is also silly buggers.
@KitsuneNight exactly you can pick it up so cheap now for a used copy can’t understand why people still wanna buy this brand new and the file size is off the scale surely they can be compressed somehow
Imagine GTA 1 & GTA 2 on NS... instant nostalgia/hit/success.
Now imagine those games followed with GTA: Liberty City Stories & GTA: Vice City Stories
whoa...
I'm curious where people are getting their copies of Ring Fit Adventure from... I haven't seen it in stock anywhere for months.
@farmer_humpf if you really want it Game are selling used copies for £169.99 😂
I'm surprised R* haven't remastered the PS2 GTA games. You could have 5 games
Gta 3
Vice City
San Andreas
Liberty City Stories
Vice City Stories
Would be good to have them remastered for Switch. Might fill a gap while we wait for Gta 6, which going on the sales of Gta 5, won't be anytime soon. Its crazy to think Gta 5 is actually a last gen game
@Gs69 I saw that earlier today when I looked! There are quite a few sellers on Amazon quoting March 27th as a supply due date.
@farmer_humpf I’m genuinely interested in getting it but that price is laughable I will keep checking amazon
I'm a bit more interested to see what the charts would look like if it was ranked by revenue rather than by unit sales.
A game like The Division 2 literally retailed for $3 last month so of course it shot up the unit sales charts.
Gamer: Okay, I've bought GTA V twice now for two different machines. I should be....
Rockstar: Buy GTA V.
Gamer: But I've already-
Rockstar: Buy GTA V! Modders and streamers love it!
Gamer: But I really don't-
Rockstar: BUY GTA V!!
Gamer: .... Buys GTA V
@Gs69
I can understand GTAV being 100 gig its after all a massive game world.
What boggles me is why games like Tekken 7 are 70 gig.
It's a beat em up, what does it need 70 gig for ?
All the uncompressed movie and audio files ?
@KitsuneNight yeah not sure why tekken would be so big seems excessive for a fighting game what has really got to me recently with the PS4 is not only do you have to update games but the copying after the update which can be just as long as the download and in some cases longer
@Gs69
From the ps4 i learned that after popping in a disc you might as well do something else. ( Play a different game on a different console. ) Cause updating and installing will take a while.
@KitsuneNight that’s exactly what I do it’s probably my least used system in the house because of that reason I feel sorry for people if it’s their only console
@Gs69
It's honestly a pretty sad state of affairs you have to do that.
I haven't had a ps4 in 3 years, though eventually I will be getting one when the ps 5 hits.
It wil be cheap and I got 60 ps4 games on my PSN.
@KitsuneNight yeah that’s why I keep mine I have a load of of stuff in my library and like you say when ps5 hits PS4 games will be dirt cheap
