Between 10th July and 31st July, Niantic is running a special limited-time promotion in Pokémon GO where Armored Mewtwo will appear in raid battles. You'll also have the chance to show off your prowess for power and aesthetics with some new Style Shop items.
Armoured Mewtwo is described as a legendary, psychic and powerful Pokémon, and won't go down without a fight. This design is based on the same one from the film, Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back - Evolution. View the most recent trailer for the movie in our previous post.

Too bad no one does raid battles around me.
I wonder if you can transfer it to Let's Go
@ALinkttPresent I'd be shocked if you can - the hatted Pikachu and flower crown Eevee (and its evolutions) can't be transferred, so I'm just assuming this will be the same.
That design looks so cool!
Too bad I don't play pokemon go
I’ll be all over that. Glad I found my local Pokémon GO group.
I like the redisign
Can't wait until armored Mewtwo takes up space in my Pokemon party, just like the dozen of Mewtwos I've caught (and the ones I had to catch for my cousin just for him to have a full team of Mewtwos).
@ALinkttPresent @MarkieMania95 is right. There’ve been a few Gen 1 Pokemon with special hats that don’t make it to Let’s Go. I doubt Armored Mewtwo is going to be different.
But the real question is will we be able to bring them into Pokémon Home?
Original Armored Mewtwo looked very low budget, which fit well with Team Rockets very old fashioned way of doing things. Meanwhile, this new design looks like no expense was spared, which is very questionable given Team Rockets standards.
This makes me really wish that they would give us new alternate skins for Smash. I would 100% pay $2 for an Armored Mewtwo skin.
Talk to me when it's a 7 day research reward. I hate raids.
Very excited about this, the best raid boss in a long time. That announcement video is hilariously cheap though, what's with the font?!
@patbacknitro18 Maybe they finally sold this slow poke tails.
Also, team rocket HAS to have money. How else does Jesse and James afford all their junk?
Raid battles have definitely dropped in prominence near me. I wonder if this will be enough to get people back. I really want Armoured Mewtwo!
@Kalmaro I know they have money, but I mean Team Rocket travels around in a Hot Air Balloon, most of their gadgets seem very low budget, which is why they get easily destroyed lol. I am betting that Team Rocket has a ton of money, but it also seems like Giovanni is very tight-fisted so he only puts the minimal amount of money he can into his projects.
@patbacknitro18 I think it's more lik, they have great stuff, but keep running into a lvl 5 billion pikachu who's plot armor can pierce the heavens.
@Kalmaro Even here in Japan, you gotta go into big cities to do level 5 raids. I usually go into Kyoto when I want to do that.
Legendary Pokemon are cool in Go to collect, but I prefer non-Legendary Pokemon, preferably Shiny Pokemon. I like leaving them on gyms. I let other people "try hard" with their Blissey on every gym. I'd rather leave my Shiny Altaria, or MelMetal or any of the others I have collected from community days and other events.
@Heavyarms55 Nice, I want a shiny!
I leave Pokémon I don't care about. Then when they get kicked out I just transfer them to the prof.
@Kalmaro Back when revives were scarce that was a really good idea. But between updated item spawns from stops/gyms and more importantly, the gift system, I usually end up with more revives than I could ever need.
@Heavyarms55 I have a boat load of revives, more than I even know what to do with, haha.
I just use weak Pokémon so my strong ones can take out gyms.
@Kalmaro Ah, I am more of an opportunist when it comes to gyms. I don't bother trying to take down full gyms with healthy Pokemon, I prey on weak ones with low CP. Also I kinda look at it this way: other people want coins too. A gym with low CP means they've probably been there long enough to get their coins.
@Heavyarms55 I don't fight gyms too often! Usually I find one that my team owns and sneak a Pokémon in. If it's one of the gyms around my house though... Well, those are MY gyms. Best be ready.
@Kalmaro That I understand. I have gold badges on several of the gyms in my area.
