So two weeks ago my cousin sold he's Gamecube to me, and he only had the game Mario Part 5. I got board of it really fast. So I decided to buy some more games. So I went on eBay to find two of my favorite games, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Smash Bros Melee. First I searched for Sunshine and I got it for a fair price, Then I searched for Melee and I could not find any good prices for it, but then I found one for a pretty good price. I got the game five days later. But the disc had to many scratches so it would not read, well I could watch the intro but not play the game! So I went on eBay again, and this time I could not find any copies for a good price. Why is Melee so expensive!? Is it because the game is rare or is it because the game is just too awesome??!!

It's an old sought after game, dude. (Saying that makes me feel old T_T)
That happens, as games get older, they get more expensive due to no new copies being produced anymore.
Thankfully, my copy (actually my brother's) still works perfectly fine, as result of actually taking care of it (even as kid, it ticked me off when people didn't put their games back in their cases and left them lying all over the place, leaving them banged up and scratched to hell).

Just some random loser who loves a variety of things.

Good thing I have it on Virtual Console... Mostly for the novelty

Maybe we will get Gamecube games on VC, I mean, we have the Gamecube controller adapter

Its because of the Smash Fan boys really. Melee is supposedly the best most balanced game in the series (I haven't heard if Smash Bros Wii U has taken that honor) and is the go to one for the hardcore Smash Players and we are talking ones that play it at a professional level. That's one reason Nintendo came out with the GC adapter for the Wii U for Smash Bros Wii U.

Depending on how damaged the disc is you could try to take it some where that has a scratch removal machine. I know some places that sell used games has one not sure if Gamestop does scratch removal or not but usually places charge only a few bucks for that service.

I did went to Gamestop but it he told me that it did not work for GameCube discs. So I found a web site where the fixed all sorts of discs. So send it in and went it come back it still did not work. I sent an e-mail to them and they responded: ''I'm sorry but the disc had too many scratches so it did not work in the machine. Where sorry...''.

Your best bet is to visit a store where they sell used games, so you know you're not buying a scratched/potentially damaged game.

If you buy them from the right people off Ebay I think its reliable or if you have a goodwill powered electronic store like The Grid near by that could always work
