Hi everybody, i'm making a Youtube series about beating every Gamecube game and am plotting out which games might pose a problem and which will be a cakewalk,

If you are aware of any Gamecube games that sit on one extreme of the spectrum, i'd love to hear about them please.

eg. Baten Kaitos can take 60+ hours to beat, whereas Luigis Mansion can be cranked out in a few hours.

Super Monkey Ball 2 is considered challenging, whereas Simpsons Road Rage is very easy.

All this information helps for categorization and Howlongtobeat is pretty lacking for many Gamecube titles, so anything you can offer me is appreciated.

F-Zero GX is supposed to be EXTREMELY difficult, but it also depends on what exacly you could consider "beating" the game?

Someday, somewhere in the Sky...
may we meet again.

Yeah, i've hear the AI in that game can be kind of brutal.

What constitutes beating is pretty much a case by case basis.

If a game has a story or last boss then it's very straight forward.

Something like Smash melee is a lot more ill defined, but i'll usually look to beat arcade, campaign or whatever the main throughline for the game is.

Thanks for the info, I will add that one to the scary list!

You should play Shrek 2 or over the hedge. Both take a few hours to beat and are surprisingly good licensed games for their time.

The tanookduke strikes again!

@Tanookduke

Thanks for the info, looks like about 5 hours a piece.

I just finished playing a Casper Licenced game that was horrendous, so it's nice to hear there are some solid ones out there.

The order is actually random, I have a big wheel that picks them for me. =P

This info is all super handy for plotting out if I want to veto something and what to look forward to etc.

Ikaruga

I looked it up on howlongtobeat (the first time I've been to that site) and since the graphs are not labelled, I've no idea what they represent. But getting through the game is a proper struggle

@Rambler

Thanks for the info, that one wasn't on my radar.

Oof, I looked it up and the first review says "Despite the potential safety of the polarity system, Ikaruga is bone-crushingly difficult." I will 100% be wary of this one!

@Reimi
It's less of a shoot 'em up and more of a puzzle game, albeit one where you are in constant danger!

Obviously what counts as a difficult game is different for different people, but that and the various incarnations of Ghosts n Goblins are my benchmarks

@Rambler

Interesting, that's definitely out of my wheelhouse as I am more into platformers, adventurers and RPGs, so I am sure it's going to be a learning curve.

@Reimi I'm pretty sure there's unlimited continues in Ikaruga anyway, so unless you plan on clearing it with only 1 credit it shouldn't take too long.

I suspect that Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance will be rather difficult, especially as there's no casual option (once you lose a unit, they're gone permanently), and even more so if there are harder difficulty options.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

@Sisilly_G Thankfully that happens to be one that I have a lot of experience with, it's decently lengthy, but isn't overly difficult if you stay away from Hard Mode. Thanks for the heads up though!
