Ha! The most I've gotten was 8 repairs and that was with my Shelby Mustang. Race hard or go home a loser - eh?

I love the sound of screeching metal in the morning

And at brunch, lunchtime, dinner, supper, etc etc.

Is this a racing sim for mobile devices?

lol I had to make 14 repairs after I took my new McLaren for a ride. I love how easy it is to spin other cars out at high speeds. <3

I love that McLaren (the one that costs 50 gold, right?).

That is, until I realised that it's like $40,000 for an upgrade that ups its max speed by 1 Mile/ hour. And it's the slowest car in most of the categories that it can race in.

So sad, because the car is so pretty.

It was 65 gold for me, but yeah, that one. And yeah the upgrades are brutal.

Yup. Genuine AAA-grade material, this game.

And Aussie made too. By, like, the last Aussie development company that's bigger than 20 people.

Icky. I don't see how that'd work well with tilt controls and a touch screen.

I say this with all sincerity: I have not played a racing game that controls better than this one. I don't use tilt controls, just touch.

Cars Auto-accelerate, I just need to touch-to-break and steer. Steering is soft and subtle, perfectly weighted and tuned.

In all sincerity I can't imagine going back to clunky button controls after how elegant this game is. Obviously I'm more comfortable with iPad gaming than many people, but even still I can't imagine anyone struggling with this game.

If the cars auto-accelerate then it doesn't sound like much of a sim. How do you shift?

Oooh, you meant hardcore sim.

No, it's more like a Need for Speed game, or Forza Horizon.

Slapshot

You don't have to use auto-acceleration - I use touch controls with manual braking/acceleration. The only thing that's missing is the ability to shift on your own here.

I'm a bit surprised that the payout for the higher level races isn't substantially greater than the starting tiers. That's a real bummer too, because a bad wreck cost more than the 1st place winnings.

There is manual acceleration? I have manual brake, but I see no reason not to just go as fast as possible otherwise ^_^

Finished 90 per cent of one of the categories now

And according to my stats, I've now finished 17 or so per cent of this game. By my calculations that means a minimum of 100 hours on the track just to 100% this game.

The biggest racing game of all time in terms of raw content?

No, I don't think so at all. I think just the main mode in Gran Turismo 5 offers more than that. Still though, you know that there will be a ton of DLC for Real Racing 3 - I can't wait!

That's a good point. Gran Turismo 5 is obscene.

The good thing about the microtransaction model is that Firemonkeys has a really good reason to keep supporting the game. I expect more tracks and more cars to be coming over the next few months, perhaps even years.

For me at least, sometimes coasting works better than braking. That and I like feeling like I have the most control of my car as possible.

My favorite race so far is the downtown race in the muscle cars group. It's really cramped and there's so many tight turns and cars smashing against each other... lol.

On a slightly different note, I'm finding it increasingly irritating that iOS games won't let you manually tune the graphics the way you can in a PC game. The framerate on this doesn't always hold up on A5 processors, and I'd gladly sacrifice some model detail and texture resolution for a smoother and more consistent framerate.

@pixelman I despise that dang track!!!

That's a great point though about having adjustable settings within the game for different devices, and one that I completely agree with. I've got a boatload of iOS developer friends, so I think I'll ask them about why this isn't a normal thing - I'm quite curious about this myself.

Laguna Seca is the best racetrack... ever! Don't ever - ever mess with me on that track on any game! Haha
