Okay - finished X8 with Axl and started the new game+ immediately. Playing around with Ultimate Armor, White Armor and Black Armor was so much fun, that I played through the game in just a couple of hours. I guess it took approx. 3 hours and 1 hour was spent on collecting metals to buy the navigators chips.

At the end I used Zero to give the final blow so that I could see his ending.

All in all - according to my switch play log, it took me 45 hours for X collection 2 and 30 hours for Collection 1. Thus said, I saw all endings, defeated the final bosses with all characters. The only thing that I yet have to do is to play X challenge. But overall the money is worth both collections. Having paid 28 € for over 70 hours of gameplay is more than justified.

EDIT: I have deleted this post as I was mistaken about the Japanese retail copies not containing the U.S. ROMs in addition to the Japanese ones.

I would highly recommend importing for those who wish for physical copies of both Mega Man X collections.

My Japanese copies have finally arrived and I have some bad news...

The good news is that the menus and the interface for the software is in English (or whatever your choice of language may be).

The bad news is that the ROMs themselves are the Japanese ones (and the software uses "Rock Man" branding regardless of the system language). The Switch home menu icon is also in Japanese. There are no subtitles for in-game Japanese text or cutscenes.
.

And you can't press Y when highlighting Rockman X 1 to change it into Megaman X1? Cause you can do that in the international version - switching between US and JAP ROMs.

@NintendoPete : Whoops! I stand corrected!

I didn't notice that the option was right there in front of me! (I'm such a dummy)

Cheers! This changes everything.

Well, it actually took me a long time to find that out as well

Hope the English Rom works, cause one user here said that he couldn't control Megaman after switch from Rockman X1 to Megaman X1
