Topic: Managing 3 Switches in One House

I have 3 switches in my home, two are OG, one is a lite.

We have two users on a family online plan.

On the primary Switch, one user has purchased all the games digitally.

So....... the second user can ONLY play on the primary console.

The first user who owns all the games can ONLY play on the other 2 secondary machines.

Only the game saves are cloud saved on the primary console.

How do I manage the other secondary machines.

Have AC and all the Mario and Zelda on the primary.

Have all the other single player story games on the secondary OG switch.

For the secondary lite, keep only little couch type puzzle games etc .

Just avoid having the same title duplicated on any of the 3 ?

Thanks for any suggestions..... next time , just getting one machine to make it easy !

@moonwalker925 Ha. Ok......Three Switches = One Primary & Two secondary.

With more than one user, I would think you'd want to have more than one Primary console, because with secondary consoles, that system only lets one console at a time.

If you make another primary console, the catch is, you may have to buy new copies of games since digital games cannot be shared between primary consoles.

Without more info, I'm not sure what else to suggest.

Dont want to buy duplicate games, just manage it better in terms of game saves.

The other user really does not play much more than AC, and we already well established on the primary console island so cant change her off of that.

Just dont want to get confused on where the game saves are at... figured breaking up the games between consoles made the most sense as I would be the one using the other two secondary ones.

@moonwalker925 You may already the points I'll make. You can share game cards no problem, but the game card is only playable when inserted into the console - two consoles cannot play a game card at the same time.

The biggest problem is when multiple people share consoles/games, and then one person decides they want their own primary console. If the games were digital, they will have to buy their own copy (And animal crossing progress cannot be transferred).

Unfortunately, from what I've seen here, people end up disappointed, because when they get the Switch and new games, they weren't aware the Switch ecosystem is designed to make it very inconvenient to share multiple consoles & digital games.

I won't claim to know everything. And I don't like being a bummer. But I'm too aware of the Switch system caveats to see anything else worthy of suggesting. If anyone else in the forum has suggestions, please share.

@moonwalker925, If you have a more specific issue I haven't touched on, let me know.

Umm... If you're going to share Switch consoles & games - live in the same house & be ready to take turns. That's the only other thing I can think of. I'm trying to help ya, but that's all I got.

I only share with my fiancé . She gets to play the few games she has liked , Red Dead 2 , Forza Horizon 4 and now Animal Crossings.

Happy wife is a happy life and I get to play more to boot )))😉

@moonwalker925 Oh, that's not bad! I'm so used to having to give bad news to people here, I'm chuckling because I finally didn't have to

As well made it easier having multiple consoles in two homes . Xbox allows you to share games on every console you set up the two users on .

PS as the Switch allows it only on the primary console .

Not A perfect
system especially when it comes to cloud saves on Switch and PS but all in all it works .

Trying now to simplify things and get down to just one PS and Xbox and a couple of switches

Not only will Xbox share digital games on multiple consoles ( only one is set as primary ) it also syncs all game saves to the cloud . So you can jump from Xbox to Xbox on any SP game and pick up right where you left off on the other without any manual Cloud downloads Needed . That is it’s best feature if you have multiple consoles on the same family .

Unlike Sony and Nintendo where only the primary can have two players and only it cloud saves
