Hi guys, I was wondering if anyone could help me out? I've got a gap coming from the back of my Switch, its been like this since Day1 (November 2018), its on the left side of the console. When I'm holding it, its flush on the right side but with a small gap on the left side, its hard to notice but I was wondering if it's worth sending in or not encase its a battery issue?
Mine looks exactly the same & I've had it since end of April 2018.... As long as you don't notice anything else, like battery draining really quickly or charging very slowly, etc?
I can tell you that is indeed a defect. As my Kids and My own Switch do not have that larger gap on the top and are totally flush. But if it doesn't effect your joy-cons attaching, or have any effect when your trying to dock it i wouldn't worry. But that is 100% not normal @bibbyftw.
Edit: If BruceCM's is the same way it's probably pretty common and nothing to worry about.
@BruceCM Thanks for the reply Is yours on the left side aswell? I don't play alot of undocked but when I have I've normally got about 4 hours and what I've found online thats pretty standard. It's just been annoying because I've not found any information about this problem online.
@BacklogBlues Thanks for the reply My cousin has one aswell, hes got the grey one and his is fine yet he's got problems with his right joycon. I got the 'let's go switch' The only problem I've had with my switch is the fan after about 2 months it needed to be replaced but everything has been fine since. I kept leaving it because It didn't seem to affect my switch at all and still doesn't to this day. Its been fine but when I've tried to find information about it online, I tend to find it hard to find any information about this issue.

Well, I only play undocked but both sides have a tiny gap there, which might well be design Presumably, if anyone else has noticed anything similar, they decided it wasn't an issue....
@BruceCM So does yours not feel flush when you go across the joycon to the screen? because if it does then you're ok haha...
Edit: Obviously. not taking into account the gap that separates them both but if yours is normal then the joycon and the screen should feel like there on level because for me thats not the case on the left side.
Oh, right.... Well, it might technically count as a 'defect' but if it's not really causing any problems, I wouldn't worry about it Maybe your left joy-con slot is just slightly further back than it 'should be'?
Hi all,
Just in an update about my switch. I got it back after 2 weeks and was told that the issue had been fixed but once I got it back I noticed that wasn't the case so I messaged them back asking what did they fix and I got a message back saying that when they checked over my switch they tested it and couldn't find any issues. I then wrote back asking why they told me that fixed the issue when in fact they left it as it was. They did offer me to send it back in if I wanted or to do so in the future but I've said no for the time being as I only took it in due to caution anyways while It's under warranty.
I will keep the forum updated if I fall into any other problems in the future but it has been like this since I bought it so If anyone else is having this issue, It could be nothing to worry about.
Ps. After writing this post I have actually messaged them again about whether or not the gap is a defect because they didn't even mention it in the repair letter. I sent them a complaint email after I got my switch back and after a day or so I got an email back saying that they tested my switch and everything worked correctly.
Pps. I got an email back today saying it will be a factory defect.
