Topic: Charger broke

Hi all, I haven’t posted for a loooong time.

I have owned my switch since they were first released and apart from my left joy con breaking everything else has been great...

Until yesterday when my switch refused to charge using the official Nintendo power brick, I tried another USB C charger and the switch started to charge, meaning it was a fault with the actual charger. I read up on this and the fix was to unplug the charger from the wall and leave it to ‘reset’ this initially worked but stopped again after only one charge.

I take it my only option is to buy another charger? I have never known a charger break before.

@Deadlysub Any USB-C charger should work (Even ones for the phones) I did it once and it turned out fine, but just to be safe I would buy one for the switch, there is some on amazon for like 14$.

Nintendo are like woman, You love them for whats on the inside, not the outside…you know what I mean! Luzlane best girl!

@Deadlysub Can't say I've heard of a charger failing, but there are some electronic bits in there. There's a chance Nintendo would still offer a replacement outside of warranty, but the caveat would be waiting while you ship it to them, and having a new one sent back.

Nintendo UK's support phone line is running again, I believe, if you want to call them. On Nintendo UK support's contact page, it looks like an email form, but after you select the two or three drop box options the page will give you the phone number. It's kind of sneaky

@Deadlysub If your switch battery was run all the way down, the console can need up to 30 minutes of charging before it will let you power it on or do anything.(so it can appear dead, but actually, it just needed 30 min of charging.) I'd make sure you've gone through the troubleshooting. Disregard if you've done that.😉 If nintendo supports troubleshooting doesn't resolve your issue, that is a very good indicator that your ac adapter needs replacing. Nintendo has a few troubleshooting pages, but I'm not sure they do anything more than this page I am pasting.

Thanks for all your help.

Yes, I went through all the trouble shooting guides on Nintendo’s website and I’ve bought a new charger which works perfectly.
