I’ve been trying to create art for a game I plan to make inspired by 2D Mario, Celeste, etc.
However, I recently have been wondering if there would be a better artstyle than the relatively basic flat art I’ve been making.
So what do you all think is the best artstyle for 2D platformers? 8-bit PA, 16-bit PA, flat-art, paper-art, vector art, etc.

Edit: I’ve been leaning a bit towards 16-bit art as of late too, as Celeste and SMA4 (gba smb3) have made me appreciate the artstyle a lot more, but I want the game to stand out among the crowd of indie games, and pixel art wouldn’t help that. so I’m mixed
