Topic: 'Scars of Mirrodin' Speculation

I'm a fan of Magic the Gathering, and I'm particularly interested in the upcoming Scars of Mirrodin set. I'm sure it'll be an artifact-heavy set like the previous Mirrodin block was, but how could it be different this time around? My guess is that after centuries of being orbited by five different-coloured, mana-rich suns, the entire plane of Mirrodin has been infused with said mana - the Fifth Dawn set hinted as such with its multicolour theme and Sunburst mechanic. Anyway, I figure everything that's not a sorcery, instant, enchantment, land and Planeswalker is to be an artifact - a coloured artifact, including creatures! This would be a great move, as it's an existing theme being revisited in a new and exciting way, it's a return to Mirrodin that continues the story of the plane in a way that makes sense (to me, at least), and it's a chance to introduce mono-red and mono-green artifacts!

It's also the greatest opportunity yet to bring back our beloved artifact Planeswalker, the silver golem Karn! Maybe now we'll learn why he suddenly disappeared during the conclusion of the Time Spiral arc...I bet it's another invasion of Phyrexians...

Just kidding, I know nothing about Magic other than that it is a card game

Magic is awesome and you all suck if you hate it. I'll set my Thraximundar on you if you blaspheme any further. That was a joke. No really!

But in all seriousness, I only started playing it fairly recently (Time Spiral block in 2006) so I can't really make any comments on how they're going to change it from Mirrodin. There are coloured artifacts in the Alara block (thanks to blue being predominantly artifacts), so I wouldn't be surprised if the new set had them too. They break the rules all the time in that game.

I played it back in Jr and Sr high, but stopped a few years back. It's a fun game, but a bigger money sink than video games.

Same here. I remember Legends, Revised 1st, Alpha/Beta/Unlimited. The Dark had just come out when I started playing. Sold all of my cards and recouped every cent I spent on them. I loved my Plague Rat deck but it REALLY pissed most people off.
