Good day!
I have a Nintendo DS Lite that randomly freezes while playing it and pressing buttons and you need to restart it. It can even happen right away upon starting the console and pressing some buttons, so I don’t think it’s a matter of over-heating, but rather the button press on the PCB! I opened it up and visually I don’t see anything wrong, cracked, broken or burnt on the PCB and I also tried a different battery. What could be the cause and how could I fix it?
Thanks in advance!
Remove the battery to perform a full factory reset. Just unscrew the cover with a Philips screw driver, remove the battery then put it back in. Don't forget to put the cover back on.
I see you tried a different battery. I suggest getting a full refund from the shop you bought it from in this case.
Do you still have it? If so I think it might be the cartridge slot momentarily cutting out. Had that issue on my DSi for a while but with some blowing into the cart slot and a bit of IPA you can get it working fine again. Hope this helps!
Edit: on the DS & DS Lite, you can go to Pictochat and, if after a while it freezes randomly and shows a solid color, that means your cart slot is momentarily not recognizing the game.
