To celebrate Mario Day on March 10th, My Nintendo in North America and Canada is offering all members a 20% discount on select Mario-themed merchandise from the Nintendo Online Store. The catch is, you'll have to redeem the discount with 450 Platinum Points.
This offer ends on March 31st and after this, you'll have until April 30th to make use of the discount. As shown in the graphic below, you can get a discount on items such as caps, Switch cases, controllers and even hoodies.
To use your reward code, follow these steps:
- Click "Access now" and you will be taken to the Nintendo Online Store website.
- Add eligible items to your shopping cart.
- Enter your redeemed code in the "Apply Discount Code" field on the Shopping Cart screen or when you check out.
- Verify that a discount coupon code was successfully applied by reviewing the order summary.
- Complete checkout with discount applied.
You can also view your code that you have redeemed before from Points history.
Will you be taking advantage of this discount? Do you still visit My Nintendo on a regular basis? Comment down below.

Lol, I don’t even have platinum coins anymore, cause for the longest time they were only good to get you a one month calendar.
No. The rewards program is pretty lame now. I'd rather go to my local store and pick up some Nintendo themed goodies than jump through their hoops.
I have completely forgotten about My Nintendo. It's three years in, and I bet there are STILL no discounts on Switch games.
LOL
The controllers can be purchased more cheaply via other websites, even when taking the discount into account. Not that I would, because I've heard mostly bad things about those Power A controllers.
Still used my points to redeem this, though, since it seemed better than letting them slowly expire.
I would call My Nintendo's reward program "cripplingly disappointing" if I hadn't already expected it to be terrible from the outset.
Will check to see how much that stuff is before and after discount. I'm expecting it to be cheaper on Amazon either way.
But I have 1,500 Plat coins so might as well.
Edit: Yeah, as I thought. They have a deck of Mario cards for $12.99 I got free from Club Nintendo.
My Nintendo would suck even if they were new at this, but Club Nintendo was just so much better.
It's like getting kicked out of a 5 star hotel and being put up in a by-the-hour motel, we're all getting screwed now. 😂
@burninmylight Pretty much. Gold Points do translate to cents on the eShop, but that's hardly useful. It's hilarious to me that you can get like a dollar off a Switch game when for the same value or less you can get, like, 20 to 40% off of a 3DS game. It's only really useful for covering tax and stretching what you can get a bit further.
@burninmylight You can’t even get games as rewards. I remember playing Miitomo everyday just so I could save up and get WarioWare: Touched. Now the program absolutely sucks. I miss Club Nintendo...
Given it’s only Mario day in the USA this makes sense. For the rest of the world it’s 10th March
No, thanks. A worldwide sale on Mario games would’ve been a better idea, and actually useful for people who live outside those regions.
God I miss Club Nintendo :[
4 years in and My Nintendo is still a joke.
There seems to be 4 Mario related games available for 33% less on the US eShop - Mario Maker 2, Mario & Sonic at Olympic Games, Mario Party, and Yoshi. Not interested in any of them, so my wallet gets 100% discount.
I'm going to echo what everybody else has said and pass on this offer. My Nintendo points are basically useless for anything except putting towards that meager discount on digital titles. Club Nintendo wasn't perfect but at least you were getting something tangible and unique for your trouble. Very disappointed that this is how Nintendo chooses to honor their diehard consumer base.
@rjejr "It's like getting kicked out of a 5 star hotel and being put up in a by-the-hour motel, we're all getting screwed now. 😂"
You do have a way with words, friend.
Ha. If I buy anything, it's going to be another pro controller, because the left analog stick drifts (granted, these have a lot of hours on them. And I hit it out of frustration one day )
This stuff isn't very special anymore. You can find much better clothing and hats online from other retailers. Even better fan-made stuff. This used to be worth it many years ago.
I spend Gold Points after saving them up for discounts on the eShop, typically for a LONG time across a LOT of purchases because even a full-priced $59.99 game only gets you 300 points (roughly $3 or 5%) on average. Platinum Points are, quite frankly, worthless to me. The old Nintendo Rewards program was FAR better and you could actually trade in your accumulated points at the end of each year for some genuinely nice stuff. Sadly, nothing good lasts indefinitely in this world.
It's not on sale, but the Luigi mansion shirt is straight gold. I'd pay $50 with not even a blink.
@AtlanteanMan Nice stuff? The rewards from club Nintendo straight sucked and we're worthless. Club Nintendo was horriable. I don't even remember a single good reward, and doing those annoying servys was a pain.
@burninmylight You are correct, the only rewards are for out of print systems lol
I still have my 3DS game case I got from their old rewards program - one that was FAR better than anything they offer now. I'm not bending over backward for a discount.
Thing is, I'd love a game case for Switch games that is just like the old one for 3DS games I got from them.
@k8sMum I try.
One good thing on My Nintendo, after a few weeks absence the 1 week NO for 100 plat coins offer is back. I'm going to get a few of them to see what I can do w/ ACNH.

So will Mario Run ever go in sale (again)? I had it on my Android phone but now have an Apple phone. I would like to give it another shot, but I don’t want to pay full price (again).
@San_D Same. Those games all suck besides Yoshi, which can be a bit fun with others.
This is just terribly sad and completely insulting.
Club Nintendo, was infinitely better.
Warts and all.
