UK Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Speeds Into Pole Position, Once Again

How are there still people that are just getting this game? It's bonkers! Pretty impressive truly.

@JimNorman The stats are wrong for Pokemon Violet, unless I am not aware of the PS5 and Xbox versions.

I had no idea Cyberpunk even released on Switch !!

Was there a sale I missed because Sonic Superstars leaping from 36 to 10 is quite impressive.

4 Nintendo games in the top ten and Princess Peach is still performing well, nice.

@Steel76 I can understand the logic behind not releasing MK8D and others as Selects, but what about Mario Tennis, Golf, Strikers, Super Party, and even games like NSMBU and DK:TF? Surely these are old enough, and are no longer selling like hotcakes?

Like it’s great for Nintendo and Mario kart, but I feel like this game still selling either reflects new switch purchases or the lack of new content from Nintendo.

Also I was like wow 40% hogwarts legacy is on switch and then remembered the delays to release on that console

Princess Peach up to 4, in it's 6th or seventh week is fantastic. Well deserved!!

Ah the usual suspects again topping the charts. What surprises me more is TOTK is not among that crowd, it really fell off shortly after launch. I wonder if the $70 is hurting its longevity potential

@BANJO not that it isn't impressive, but 6 or 7 weeks is overselling it. These charts are from Monday so it's 4 weeks

@Steel76 Don't be so melodramatic. We didn't get a new entry on Switch as Wii US failure meant so few people bought MK8 so it was recycled and bolstered as the Switchs entry. We'll get a new entry on Switch 2 as it'll similarly be a system seller.

@Axecon That may be so in the US, but Tears of the Kingdom launched at £60 RRP in the UK (the same 'premium' price as Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), and can now be bought for £45 at a certain well-known online retailer.

EDIT: Tears of the Kingdom is indeed on the chart at number 19.

Wow Mario Kart 8 Deluxe topping both the Japan and the UK chart on the same week? Guess we won't see a Mario Kart 9 any time soon then.

Man, it gets tiresome folk asking how people can still be buying Mario Kart lol. It's a system seller. I.e, Switch hardware had a great week. I mean, you don't expect folk to just buy Mario Kart without owning a Switch?? I get the disbelief though. Year 8 and still going strong. Sony are going to have to pluck another number out of the air at this rate.

@Axecon I think TotK sales were just massively front loaded. I suspect it’ll finish a couple of million above its current official figures (20m as of Dec 31). A comfortable #8 on the Switch all-time list, behind MK8D, Animal Crossing, Smash Bros, BotW, Mario Odyssey, Sword and Shield, and Scarlet and Violet.

Not bad competition to fall short of, considering they’ve all been out for years.

I still can't believe that Switch has done so well here. It's really astonishing - for decades Nintendo has had a foothold here (obviously) but they've always been a distant second behind Sega/Sony/Microsoft. Often a very, very distant second or third.

Good week for Switch software. MK8D is insane.

@Axecon I guess we'll see about TOTK in early May when Nintendo publish their financials for the last quarter. It's already one of the top nine selling games on Switch with 20m units sold, so not too shabby when all's said and done.
