I've opted for the physical Switch 1 version to play on my Switch 2. Don't know why this is a Keycard release - it's hardly the Final Fantasy VII remake.
Has anyone else seen the preorder price on Amazon UK? £79.99!!!!????!!!!!! I pre-ordered my copy with The Game Collection, a very reasonable looking £49.95 compared to what Amazon is asking for.
I picked mine up yesterday, and immediately out of the box you start to notice the difference. The design and form factor is lovely. It feels like a premium piece of tech. The set-up went really smoothly, although the system transfer started downloading all my digital games. There's plenty of room for my Switch 1 games, especially when you add an SD card, but I think it will fill up very quickly once I start downloading Switch 2 titles. So I'll have to go back and delete a few. Playing Mario Kart World was fun but I struggled to see how it felt different from 8 Deluxe. It wasn't until I put Cyberpunk on that I started to see what the system is really capable of. It's incredible to experience Night City on handheld. I finished the day by going back to my OG OLED and it was then that I really appreciated what the Switch 2 is doing. My Switch just feels slow and clunky in comparison. I almost felt sorry for it. I can't see me going back to it. So far, this is a worthy upgrade.
I'm loving mine. It felt weird for about 10 minutes but now I wouldn't go back. I play exclusively in handheld mode and it makes long sessions pretty comfortable. I've seen a few reviews mention the right stick placement but it hasn't bothered me at all. I've not really had a reason to think about it. The sticks themselves feel great to use. The clicky trigger buttons don't stay clicky for long. At least I'm not noticing them anymore. The overall build quality is nice and it makes my Switch look like a GameCube. What's not to love about that?
I always check my expectations before going into every direct. It's so easy to listen to the hype and buy into games that don't actually appear or even exist. Having said that, this one really disappointed me. Octopath Traveller 2 surprised me but that was it. Really wanted the rumoured Zelda and Metroid but I don't think they will ever show up now. Sure it's cool to see the title of the BOTW sequel but we knew that was coming. The rest was just a bit Meh! Even Fire Emblem couldn't save it.
I've traded in far too many games that now fill me with remorse: Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion and Minish Cap are particular highlights. Still I have clung onto my copy of Chrono Trigger for the DS. I wouldn't dream of trading in any game nowadays.
