@Sisilly_G I feel like Gamefreak will push to have the gb and gba mainline games to be packaged with a pokemon home expansion so they can charge us extra since they would want some of that sweet sweet money in exchange for us getting a transfer feature for gens 1-3.
I believe they won't split the system as there is no reason to especially when the wiiu failed hard and the 3ds had a rough early life despite virtually having no direct competition when the psp vita had an even worse time than them.
The hybrid market is technically all theirs because they have no direct competition as all other hybrid console options are just handheld laptops loading up steam, epic games etc. There is really no one making exclusive hybrid console only content other than Nintendo.
I think the right direction is to upgrade the specs of the switch to catch up so it can run the current more demanding games, because the disaster that was pokemon S/V should not happen when it is one of their 1st party super seller games. From there they need to hit the problem the switch has which is that it is more handheld than home console. So I believe the big upgrade would be that the dock now does the majority of the processing in docked mode so we can have stable 1080p and 30/60fps on handheld without the added bulk that stronger hybrids need to exceed those specs so no thicc steamdeck issues while the dock goes atleast 1440p with staple 30/60fps.
From there 3-4 years after launch they produce the "lite" handheld only and possibly console only versions to skim off more sales for the draggers who don't want to pay full price for the hybrid format because they rarely or never go handheld or console.
