I don't agree with the writer... what u r talking about has already been done in Wii U, affordable price, unique gaming direction, avoid competition in hardware/tech.
For what I have seen so far, I think NX is not going to be a cheaper console than ps4 or xbox one. It is not what nintendo fans are looking for. They are (probably) using Nvidia graphic card and hinted that NX is going to be stronger than ps4.
nintendo might have seen itself losing too many titles for WiiU's weak performance. They don't want to lose them again in NX. So they are absolutely not sacrificing graphics for cost.
what is the edge of NX i think will be a combination of 3DS and Wii. Innovative way of gaming, playing console game on mobile controller anytime anywhere, and mobile games are also available on the machine.
Nintendo's comflict with ps4 and xbox one is inevitable. They tried to avoid that in WiiU and it is how they lost many titles. Nintendo is not going to lose the titles again. See their conversation with leading manufacturers. NX is going to be a super playing station i think, but expect to pay more. And I am definitely looking forward to that direction.
