I don't get the Three Houses story argument. That ***** is BORING. Why should I care about the geopolitical climate of fantasy land. Engage just has much better gameplay and the story isn't the most unique but at least it's interesting and relates to a lot of FE titles and isn't just a standalone game.
Gameplay first, parasocial relationships later. Three Houses is the most overrated game in history, mainly because not everyone wants a 300 hour politic simulator. I just want to play a game, not read a novel. Persona finds a perfect balance between gameplay and social aspect with good character writing. FE can't do this because it has already written 500+ characters and nearly all of them are one-note, filler characters. I can't care about FE characters because they don't act like real people, especially in the last 5 entries in the series. There is the occasional cool design, but other than that, there's only so many times you can write the same character. If it's not broken, don't fix it.
