Does anyone know anything about Wii Karaoke U coming to North America or the Wii version that supposedly got released last week? I can't find that one anywhere. But I'd definitely prefer the Wii U version anyway.
@Collo That's awesome to hear! I love both Toki Tori's and was going to get this too, but I might wait for the 3DS version now. Could you say if it'll be as cheap?
My favorite toys growing up were LEGO's and Transformers, plus I played a lot of Nintendo. Why didn't I think of this?! But seriously, 10/10 for sure! Baron von Brunk, you have an amazingly creative mind! I can't wait to see what you come up with next!
Cool, it's a great game and my wife and I still play the multiplayer! (She's too good at it though!) I always thought this would be good for co-op; maybe this version will add that. Then we'd re-buy it for sure!
@HugoSmits looks like another great experience! I enjoyed both Flippers and both this and Ace Mathician are on my wish list. Also excited to hear you're moving on to 3DS, even if it was a little premature of an announcement!
Could anyone tell me what Miyamoto's name is on Miiverse? I tried to search for it and can't find anything. I could scroll down all the way to the first post, but I felt this might be quicker, asking the people who saw it and are following him. Thanks!
@ph0x Thanks for letting us know! It's great to see a developer going above and beyond like this. Given the facts that DSiWare is getting a lot less attention nowadays and a game must be downloaded X amount of times before you get any money back it must be tough to still produce for the service. But you are listening to feedback and fixing the problem. I was considering buying this based on the multiplayer and pick-up-and-play feel of it because my daughter and I would have fun with it. But after seeing your comment I decided to get it for sure just to support you because I like your level of commitment. Thanks again, I look forward to the update/patch!
I'm so glad you guys wrote this article! I agree wholeheartedly! It's a fantastic game that deserves to be remembered on its own and not in SM64's shadow. 64 is my favorite Mario title, but I love Sunshine too.
The parts where the FLUDD was taken away were my favorite. I used to explain this to people all the time. The game gives you a crutch when it comes to jumping for most of the game, making you lazy when hopping around. Then it takes it away and what used to be normal jumps become very difficult. Messing with you like that is genius!
Congrats man! Those are some big shoes to fill, but your story makes me think you'll do just fine. I'm looking forward to the great things you'll be doing here!
Hey everybody! After reading the review and comments I was pretty sure I wouldn't like the game either, but then I read the comment from @cinemaxgames that said they would give redeem codes for people to try and give their opinion for it. After playing it I sent this email to them:
"Thank you for letting me try the game, it was indeed better then I thought and read. The stylus control takes a little practice to get used to but not much. I thought about it like training for an actual sport, practicing first. The first time you try, you're going to be bad at it. The one thing I didn't understand yet was tapping again while in the air, such as in the long jump or high jump. Could you explain that to me? Maybe my timing is just wrong.
I played for just under 30 minutes according to my 3DS Activity Log, but that includes reading the manual as well. Then I practiced each event until I got good scores, then tried a decathlon. I did ok, but of course I didn't play very long. Definitely not long enough for a review, but I'd say it deserves more like a 5/10. The graphics and sound fit the theme of 8 bit games you were going for. The biggest complaints I have are the length for the price and the multiplayer. For the former, I feel it should have been $2 for the amount of content. It's not long (I technically saw everything in under a half an hour) and the replay value isn't that high as far as score based games go. As for the latter, I think a definite plus would have been for download play/wireless so you could compete. That would have upped the replay value considerably.
I'm just giving my first opinions on it and I will let my family try it to see if theirs vary at all. We'll also try multiplayer. Again, thank you for the opportunity to try the game and I will post on Nintendo Life this info as well to hopefully raise awareness of the game and your company being very nice, courteous, and generous. May you continue making good games, thank you!"
@ColloCan you confirm if the levels are the same as the WiiWare version or not? Also, I loved that game, it was one of my first WiiWare downloads. But I beat it a few years ago now, so I might buy it now as well. Thanks for making this great game, keep up the good work! I love when companies talk to us fans like this. Thanks for that too!
I downloaded this right away and am loving it. I had it when I was younger, so nostalgia might have something to do with it. I see Philip's points though and I didn't play pinball as a kid so I didn't compare it to that. I also got Kirby Block Ball resently and love that as well. I didn't have that as a kid. It definetly does a better job of acting like the game it's born from, but it did come out three years after Kirby's Pinball Land. I still recommend pinball, just remember to play it like its a quirky and fun way to play Kirby, not comparing it to an actual pinball game.
Congratulations James! I will miss you and all your awesome editing. I've been following this site almost as long as you've been a part of it. I especially will miss hearing you talk about all things Nintendo on the podcast. But that's a great opportunity you have so of course you need to take it. I wish you well!
Congratulations to you as well Damian! You are a great writer and reviewer and I know you'll do great as editor.
Great review Morgan! Not sure if it's your first, but it's the first one I've seen. It's really detailed too. I put this one my wish list, but it has to wait for a bit. I'm busy with heroic pinball tables and bomb throwing monkeys at the moment, if you know what I mean!
My wife loves the Wii version of this, she's played through it at least three times. I'm not big into time management games, but I tried the demo and found myself enjoying it way more then I thought I would. When I told my wife that, she said "I told you it was awesome!" She also tried the demo and said it controls even better then the Wii version, and that one had good controls, not like so many other 3rd party motion control games.
I also really like that they put up a demo. A $10 game is a tough decision without one. Smart move.
I love Zen Pinball, but I'll definetly pass on this one. The best version of solitaire on a DS is 24/7 Solitaire I think. 24 variations of the card game and 7 of the peg type. Great deal.
Definetly excited for this one, way to go Disney! All the old references for us old-timers are great! Oh, and Bowser better be voiced by Dennis Hopper!
I wonder if work would consider this a reason to take a day off...probably not. Bummer. Well, thanks for all the coverage you guys provide. I'll be checking in as much as I can.
My parents got the bundle with Mario Bros., Duck Hunt and zapper, and the Olimpic's game with the Power Pad. It was awesome! My siblings and I would get so tired from running on that pad, then competing in Mario and duck hunt. When it was time for bed, we'd hear our parents playing duck hunt. It was torture! They never played a game like that again until the Wii. Thank you Nintendo for Wii Sports! You've made my parents gamers for a second time!
I just got this finally! I've only played the first one, so this is fantastic. It controls great and getting to play all three is amazing! I'm going through the first one again and it's bringing back so many memories. Best collection ever!
Yes! WayForward is one of my favorite companies! New levels and upgrades, for free! True, the game is a bit short, but it's downloadable, not retail. Plus, the love they put into it is worth the price. I got all the star times(that last level was brutal) and can't wait for these challenges. Thanks WayForward! You keep making great games and showing support for them and I'll keep buying them!
Mostly Kid Icarus: Uprising for me. I can't get enough of it! A little Kirby's Block Ball too though. Good luck Phillip getting stars in MSF. I've got them all, even the last level, but they were sure hard! I can't wait for some extra levels in that!
Thanks for the info and for taking the time to talk to consumers like us. It really shows what great developers you are that you'll use this site (my favorite) and talk about the process you go through to make a great game/app. I, for one, have given you more support because of it. I've bought quite a few of your apps and can't wait for Spirit Hunters Inc. It'll be a day one buy! Keep up the good work and know that your openness and kindness has brought supporters like me!
Haven't listened to this yet, but will soon. I've listened to all the past episodes and was very excited to see another entry! Please make this a regular thing again if that's possible, I enjoy listening to them very much!
When I got home last night I was pleasently surprised to see the update. I love the folders since I had close to a hundred icons between the Ambasador games, videos, demos, and paid stuff. I agree they could be better, but as usual it's a step in the right direction. Also, thanks WayForward! I love that they're giving us free levels! That is a great game.
That is pretty cool. I was wondering if there weren't more cards in the works. I wonder just how many are on the game. I do like the idea of making a battle/card game out of this, I just don't have anybody to try it with. And Ninty would be absolutely crazy not to do this with Pokemon. An AR version would sell like mad!
I found Rhythem heaven for $8 at a retail store! The first time I turned it on I realized I would have paid a full $30 for it and still felt I was getting a good deal! I couldn't put it down, playing it almost exclusively for months. When I only had perfects left to get, I would have to take some breaks so I didn't break my DS in frustration; it's that demanding of a game, and I loved it all the more for it. I am pleased to say that I have all perfects in the game and unlocked everything, a feat I am very proud of. I can't recommend it enough to others. Anybody else get 100%?
This could be really good, I look forward to playing it. And he's right about Streetpass. It's not so much underused as it is misused in my opinion. Most games just let you give some gift you could get in-game anyway. I like his idea of competing with it; like the Mario games have done. MK7 let's you race other people's ghosts and SM3DL let's you see other peoples times in all the levels so you can "race" them. I personally love checking to see if someone has beat any of my times so I can try again.
Totally agree! I love it! I'm not a very good artist, but I have Art Academy and it's helped me improve so even I made a pretty cool picture with layers. Man, it seems everything looks better in 3D! And looking at other people's work online is awesome too, some people are so amazing!
@James do you know if you guys are reviewing Spirit Camera? I'm interested in it, but I would like a review first and this is the site I trust the most.
This looks helpful, informative, and really cool! But I agree with @metafaniel, it would be better still if we could all see the amazing works of art that are at The Louvre. I would love to see them, but probably won't ever get to because of money, time off, etc... I would pay to see this app on my 3DS at home.
Completely agree! I beat it and the story has more twists than an M. Night Shyamalan movie! Plus the multiplayer and weapons aspects are amazing as well! The controls don't bother me either; I play with and without the stand and both work great for me.
I'm a fan of Swapnote, but I only have one friend that has a 3DS right now. My friend code is 2836-0093-8545 if anyone wants to add me. I would love to talk to a few people from this site, it's awesome and I've been reading it for a while now.
Could anyone send me the Zelda stationary and/or any other rare ones? I got the one from Reggie, but that's it
I also look forward to any matches in Mario Kart if anyone is up for that!
I've been reading for a long time now, but don't usually comment. I have a couple of questions for you though. First, did you find Pilotwings Resort to be fairly short like a lot of reviewers are saying? Second, are you reviewing any more 3DS games before the launch? I was hoping you might review Steel Diver because I was thinking of getting it, but value what you say a lot.
Thanks for all the great information, I look forward to reading more soon!
