The time of stories like this appearing in different news feeds all of a sudden feel like a jab of jealousy or trying to put a developer down and I think it's in relationship to the success of Assassin's Creed Shadows. This goes without saying, they didn't cater to the west either, they made the type of game they wanted to make. 90% of the hatred towards that game came from the west. As somebody who is fluent in both English and Japanese there were a lot of Google translate bad type of reviews and comments in Japanese that came from someone with too much free time that was drunk on haterade
Not a fan of the wording for this while I also see this same story in my news feed for every news site this week. It comes off as negative while currently there aren't Japanese games like this releasing. Chinese games are winning and have been the past 5 years. GTA6 is going to be a game that obviously caters to you know who and people will still eat it up. While I believe this translation was taken out of context to be a negative jab I think it was supposed to say "just be yourself and make games that YOU would want to play not for any specific group or country"
