At least in the US, both the amiibo and special edition of the game has been available the last few days as a web in store order at GameStop. I know a lot of people hate Gamestop, but if you got stores nearby, walk in and ask them to check. I had to go to two different GameStops to get both the amiibo and Special Edition. You pay now up front and have it shipped, but it was worth it to me being a huge Nintendo fan, amiibo fan, and Metroid fan. Yeah it cost me Gamestop’s expensive shipping on top of the MSRP cost, but it’s still far from what scalpers are asking for.
I hate scalpers, but none of these companies are being proactive about stopping it and likely never will. We as a community of fans need to help each other where we can and notify each other of tips and tricks to secure these things. That, and not buy into scalpers insane prices thus giving them little by little less incentive to use bots to buy up these kinds of things. People are inherently greedy though and they are always going to look to make a buck even if the means to do so is of questionable integrity.
If you are able to web in store order successfully, please pay it forward and spread this info to other good, honest fans, who aren’t just looking to exploit others fandom to make a buck. I hope you get what you want. Have a nice day strangers.
