Re: Round Table: Are Nintendo Neglecting the 'Hardcore Gamer'?

CowLaunch

I think being a 'hardcore' gamer is more to do with with mindset than anything else, not that it helps narrow it down at all.

As much as core Nintendo fans moaned during the N64 and Gamecube years about how Nintendo was overlooked by casual gamers, I think for some being a hardcore gamer is an almost secret pleasure of being a sort of outcast (at least in the mind of the 'hardcore' gamer). In their mind they are the last bastion against the all consuming tide of casual gaming. I've known people like this, I'm guilty of this with regards to comedy shows; when they become popular I can lose interest, and plenty of people have this attitude towards bands.
With regards to the lack of good core franchise games I can see what people mean, but I've learnt to be careful for what you wish for. In retrospect, I preferred waiting ages for Ocarina rather than getting the clearly unfinished Wind Waker relatively quickly.

Re: Nintendo EU Price Fixing Fine is Reduced

Take that Nintendo, you don't mess with the EU, unless you are the following: USA, China, India, Russia, Brazil, any country with a military with over 10 people in it, evil dictators, oil companies, the IMF...

Re: Ten Game Boy Games You Should Be Playing

I always thought the screen was green. Anyone have a Super Game Boy cartridge? You could change the colour scheme on that.

Ah, Wario Land 2, anyone remember the VERY (there were lots of 'last' levels) last level? That was tough.

Re: Hollow Victory for Nintendo as Latest Pokémon Title Tops Japanese Charts

Is there a possibility that WiiWare and VC may actually be hurting Nintendo's sales elsewhere? I say this because I'm not especially well off and I can very rarely justify buying a Wii game when I could get 3-10 decent games for the same price from the Wii Shop. For example, I quite liked the look of the new Wario Land but when I saw how many good 2D platformers are on VC it just didn't make sense to buy it. I think there are a few people like myself who just have Brawl, Galaxy + VC. Maybe this is why Nintendo seem reluctant to put VC on the DSi?

Re: Review: Conker's Bad Fur Day (N64)

I love the single player, it's varied and very well presented, but what keeps me coming back is the multiplayer. Honestly, set up your N64 and this will give Mario Kart 64 competition. Beach, Total War and Heist are my favourites. From what I can tell the multiplayer isn't trying to be like Goldeneye, that was the fault of Tooie.

For maximum enjoyment try to bazooka someone in the air when they didn't even know you could see them from where you are. Also try to shoot two people at once with the handcanon. I love this game! Enjoy!
