If there is to be 'fall of the toys-to-life' market, Nintendo will escape relatively unscathed. They won't be stuck with a massive amount of unsold stock. But seriously, I think the strength of Amiibo is that they're not limited to one single series of games. In terms of the strength of IP, I see no reason for Disney to fail but I agree with what was said about Disney perhaps aiming at too young an audience and Nintendo having nostalgia at their side.
Although it took some getting used to I do really enjoy the new battle mode in MK8. But I think they could have compromised by having some proper, dedicated arenas. Maybe, in time, they will add some through dlc...but some how I don't think they will.
