Of course they do because the Nintendo version is always a half arsed cash grab which never has feature parity with the other versions despite costing more. They can't even be bothered to port the frostbite engine most of their games run on.
I have a switch.no I wasn't uninformed I just thought that when they introduced the paid online service which took 1.5 years after the launch (which is when I bought it) that they would have the functions you expect from a paid online service. the functions required to actually play online with friends.
Are you saying minority opinions aren't important either?.like people on YouTube all their subscribers or neogaf?.or this forum or people I know. Wow there sure are a lot of minorities. None of their opinions relevant eh.
Well I'm in the UK and here Xbox live and PSN are twice as much as switch online not 3x. But games like God of war, hitman cod, rise of the tomb raider, assassin's creed, are priced around £10-15 here even used.and you are getting 2-4 a month. And the subscription is £40 a year. 2 or 3 old nes/SNES games do not in most eyes amount to the same value especially as their appeal is much more limited.
Yes but I can see where the money goes on PSN and Xbox live.implementing new features and paying for lots of current generation games and previous gen games on Xbox
Where does this money go it isn't spent on system updates and what does it buy you?.
I remember the SNES fondly by the way but not enough to pay a subscription to play the games.
Also baring in mind that I and most people I know have no interest in nes games or probably even snes games...what an I paying Nintendo a subscription fee for again?..using my own internet for p2p
Well my battery on my phone is always drained when I get home from work. Plus my friends rightly think they shouldn't need 2 devices to do what should be on one. It can be done but it's a work around we shouldn't need. The point is it's not convenient which Nintendo should be thinking about.
I don't do microtranctions, games as a service or competitive games online. I simply want to buddy up with friends and chat and play cooperatively. Cheers though
@Spudtendo The netflix situation is that I'd like to watch it in bed on the device I own and my phone is too small. Not the same for everybody but I'm sure I'm not the only one
There are always new customers to be gained.for instance I sold my ps4 due to wanting something portable. If you have the same features there is no need for switch to be a second console.it can be your only console. Many people want to play Nintendo games and they can't be enjoyed on rival consoles. They shouldn't give people Reason to not have one. I work with over 120 people. Many have a switch. They all have other consoles because the switch doesn't provide what they want. The other thing is you say what reason to do it?. How about keeping your existing customer base happy. So they won't defect. Once you are in a console ecosystem it's hard to get out as your purchases I think will move with you next generation. So if Nintendo lose me as a customer and I buy Xbox.next generation I will probably go where I can play my old games are.i think that's the big picture.
@Spudtendo Also I don't have a pc or another console to play on.so for people who don't these are necessary features. I already bought a blu ray player for netflix since my PS4 I have used to do that. I shouldn't need to keep buying more hardware because Nintendo don't want to spend money or effort (which people are paying them for)on enabling basic functions on their console.
@Spudtendo I didn't say it will make or break the system. It's selling great as it is that's no secret. Why give your competitors a reason to buy a rival console?. Some people are saying I'm in the minority. Look at this way. What reason is there to not have those functions?. What meaningful features have been added since launch?. Then tell me what features PS4 or Xbox don't have that you would want?. I can't think of any. So why not please all of your customers then there is no argument.
@Spudtendo I did read that but I think that's why SNES games are being added to the service. I am not asking the world am I? How hard is it to make a native chat app or just allow discord (who offered to make one),Skype hangouts.take your pick

Well I can only speak for my experience.
I had a PS4 from 2013-2017 and didn't have any of those problems.
Being a dad and not having much TV time the switch was more convenient but I went from playing with friends to playing alone all the time and I'm more of a social gamer.
@KingdomHeartsFan Yea i know quite a few people who did the same thing for the same reasons. It's a shame though because they make great games and I like the portability. But I'm tired of playing alone.

Pointing out Nintendo's shortcomings is trolling now?.
And no I'm not the only one voicing these opinions by far.
Not just in here but on YouTube and most games outlets.
For those saying voice chat isn't important why do we have companies like vivox announcing plans to support it in development kits.epic games saying they will enable it for developers to use on their games for free this year.
And Microsoft planning to bring Xbox live to the switch.
Basically these companies have recognised a basic need that Nintendo is ignoring.
But then you would have to actually communicate with customers for that like Dan adelman did...oh wait they fired him for it.
@westman98
I'm aware of that but they are still senior management making public statements about how they listen to the customers.
But how about asking them?.
When was the last customer satisfaction survey or poll about what features you would like on switch or how you think switch online could be improved?.
Xbox and PlayStation do them regularly.
So they tell us what we want but don't ask.
Same as Reggie says we have a voice chat app because nobody wants to carry a bulky headset.firstly most people don't play online in a public place as the connection is too unstable.
Secondly I might be at home and want to use my headset.
Thirdly bulky headset?.
I have a pair of earbuds with a mic in my switch case same as most people probably do.
And if he read or cared about the reaction to that statement they would have addressed it.
It's utter nonsense.
@NoxAeturnus As far as me not being their market I've been playing Nintendo games since the super Nintendo. But I live in the modern world where I have a job and a child and my friends do too. It only supports a few games and If I'm using the phone why not use WhatsApp, hangouts, Skype, discord, text messaging ect. See how pointless the app is.
I can't be that hard core as I haven't played a game online since switch launched and switch is the only console I own. Servers is important for long distance play as anyone who has played say smash Bros online will have had huge lag issues and noticed some matches are great and others are a slide show even if they don't know why. I think the voice and party chat is the most important thing as that is preventing people from playing games online with their friends. This has been acknowledged as a problem since their terribly received voice chat app was introduced.
@Rodan2000 Well I did just state my reason. I don't own a tablet and I would like to watch it in bed on a device bigger than my phone I appreciate some people have other options but just because you won't use it it doesn't mean it shouldn't be there for people that will. Wii u had it,3ds has it,Wii had it. It's now more popular than ever so why shouldn't switch have it
@LoveEmpath but the game wasn't very good. You can't really blame that on the consumer. Instead of abandoning the franchise maybe re-examine it and say how can we do this right.
@Medic_alert I am by no means a hard core gamer. If I was if be playing on other systems. What I want mostly is to be able to play games online with my friends and chat to them without external devices and fuss. And I don't think it's the minority that wants that. Because I don't have an additional console I can't play with them. Tell me thats not a problem.
@LavaTwilight
Firstly I don't consider playing games online with my friends a gimmick.
It's a prerequisite for a games console in 2008 let alone now.
I had to buy a blu ray player to watch it netflix on the TV since I sold my PS4 which played everything.
Should I have to buy a tablet too?.
Because the device I own won't play it?.
My phone is too small to watch it in bed.
I have my switch next to me which I play games on.
I should be able to use that like every Nintendo console since the Wii played netflix including Wii u which was a sales disaster.
If you don't want to use it there then dont but for many people like me it would be a welcome convenience.
Oh the other thing is what are you paying for with switch online?.
A voice chat app that's compatible with about 5 games out of the 1000 plus available.
No servers for online games
Cloud saves that don't work on every game.
Used to 3 nes games now 2 a month which I and many switch owners have no interest in.
People that want those games have probably bought them many times on previous systems.
Compare that to games with gold or PlayStation plus which yes is twice the price but they are high quality new current generation titles you get.and you get 3 or 4 a month.
Doesn't sound like a great deal does it.
@andykara2003
Yes I can use my phone.
I shouldn't have to.
Why use 2 devices when you can use one.
When I finish work my battery is drained.
I could use a work around with Bluetooth headphones to my phone.
This is the point.
Nintendo don't care that I need to use a work around and buy new hardware to play on their system.
I should be able to plug in my headset to my switch and chat.
They don't like to copy what Xbox/PlayStation do.
Well playing with friends is easy on those systems.
On switch it's a frustrating nightmare since there isn't even a universal invite system it would work differently on every game.
I have many friends with a switch.
All of them own another console to play online and won't use their phone to chat not should they have to.
It's a mess
That's pretty hilarious as they have been totally ignoring consumers wishes for years.
Important things missing on switch
Native voice chat (no phone app that only works with a handful of games).
A universal invite system at system level to make it easy to jump into games with friends.
A messaging system
Netflix
Folders
Themes
An internet browser
Servers for online games.
Virtual console.
Switch online is not a good deal.
If Nintendo actually cared about what consumers want they would do something.
They are too busy counting money.
It's not hard to make a voice chat app for the switch.
Discord even offered to do it twice.
I am on the verge of selling my switch as many friends have since we can't communicate with each other after nearly 2 years.
People play games online with their friends these days.
Nintendo need to understand that.

It's a mess
Re: Takahashi And Miyamoto Talk About Nintendo's Ability To Respond To A Variety Of Consumer Preferences
