In the UK this week, two new releases took the top 2 spots in the charts, with Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League coming in at number 1, and Persona 3 Reload taking the silver medal. Suicide Squad's triumph might be somewhat surprising given the relatively mixed critical reception, but nevertheless, it's a big win here for Rocksteady and Warner Bros. Games
Elsewhere, Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth has tumbled from number 2 down to number 28. There's no doubt that the franchise has somewhat of a niche audience here in the UK, but that fall definitely hurts to see.
Over on the Switch, there are no major releases to speak of (but we do have Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash enter the charts at number 29), so we've got Super Mario Bros. Wonder sitting nicely at number 4 with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe just behind at number 5. Meanwhile, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is slowly creeping down the charts to land at number 13, but with two new releases taking the top 2 spots, this isn't entirely surprising.
Here's your look at this week's top 40 in full, with platform breakdowns for all of the titles available on other consoles alongside the Switch:

Love to see Persona 3 Reload in second, fingers crossed it will eventually come to a Nintendo system!
Yep. That's going to last. I'm going to call it and predict this game dies a lot faster than WB anticipated. I think peak concurrent Steam players is at 13-14,000? It may have sold well at release, but WB wants people to play it for the rest of eternity. That's not happening.
I have to say, it wouldn't surprise me if Rocksteady is shuttered after this. WB have said that they want to make their big games into live services. MK may as well already be a live service, and the FGC has no shame, so I doubt Netherrealm is going anywhere soon. But what about these guys, and Monolith? If their Wonder Woman game is a live service, they might course correct after this bomb, but they tried to do that with SS as well sooooooo...
@JohnnyMind maybe the finished version (FES, Royal, Golden, whatever they go with) will.
Can't imagine it needed to shift too many copies for the number one spot. Persona 3 Remake in second place is pretty niche and again I wouldn't expect high sales numbers there. So this really doesn't tell us much. I haven't played the game but video reviews make it look incredibly boring. I'm glad it isn't the complete disaster it looked like being, but in a way simply being mediocre is somehow worse.
@LikelySatan Good point and I definitely wouldn't mind waiting if it meant getting the enhanced version from the get-go!
It's funny because Suicide Squad isn't a broken game for once, it's just another grind business on wheels. Don't get me wrong, if this games float your goat, good for you, but I am not buying into this highly repetitive game that's more a chore than fun.
Not really a big win for Suicide Squad.
Sold half of what GotG did at launch which was considered a sales failure.
Game looks boring as hell.
@JohnnyMind Im a fan of Shin Megami games, but can never get into the Persona series for some reason. Maybe I missed the window of opportunity when I was young.
Anyways, for those who are fans this great news. Maybe next up they will do Persona 4 and maybe one day remake 1&2.
Keep it for me. It certainly wouldn't be my choice of number 1.
@SwagaliciousJohnson Shame too. From the reviews I read, people love the story and characters, but it's core gameplay bringing it all down.
What a sad end for the Arkhamverse.
This game looks so underwhelming. Even the visuals have taken a huge hit from Arkham Knight and that was out almost a decade ago.
Also not a great look when devs take to twitter to complain about the critical reception as they have been. I sympathize with them, this probably wasn’t the game they wanted to make and WB likely forced them in this direction but don’t be shocked when the response from critics isn’t glowing
@Vexx234 Luckily both series have been going strong (have finally got a copy of Shin Megami Tensei V recently, looking forward to eventually playing it to properly give the SMT series a shot just like I'm currently doing with Persona), fingers crossed they'll eventually rerelease Persona 1 and 2 in some way or the other as they're the games that need it the most!

Suicide Squad definitely underperformed. Physically it only sold half of what Guardians of the Galaxy sold at launch physically.
@Ooccoo_Jr "mediocrity" is just a fanbloid slur for the vast middle ground that ironically backs up the existence of "classics" because the latter's own status needs something for them to stand out among.
Mario Kart 8 back in the top 5 again! 😆 I can't imagine Suicide Squad will keep that spot for very long given the poor reception. I'd imagine it only got to number 1 because there was nothing big out this week.
@Vexx234 Naaah. It's not an age thing. I got addicted to P5R last year that I had to stop playing for my sleep's sake and I'm nearing my 30s.
Maybe you just need the right mindset.
@JohnnyMind Doesn't look like that's happening, unfortunately.
https://www.pushsquare.com/news/2024/02/no-expanded-royal-or-golden-edition-for-persona-3-reload-atlus-promises
@Olliemar28 Of course unless they change plans later but still, good to know, I hope Reload comes to a Nintendo system as is then!
@JohnnyMind Persona 3 possibly appearing on the Switch / Switch 2 in the future is the only reason that I didn’t buy it on Day One. Based on interviews, it seems like there is a strong possibility that it will eventually come to a Nintendo platform.
Rocksteady have really let me down here, I haven’t and won’t be getting this installment. Their last installment with knights bored me to tears and this actually looks worse. I hate that this is the way Kevin conroy will be sent off. Such a shame.
@Samalik Same, I'm also nearing my 30s and I'm loving Royal, can't wait to play 5's spin-offs first and foremost and then the other games in the Persona series as soon as I finish it (currently doing the Royal-exclusive Palace so I'm pretty close)!
@larryisaman
The most WB/DC thing in existence going from the Arkham games a decade ago to this edgy GAAS slogfest, it likely wouldn’t have existed if it wasn’t for that SS film so Rocksteady might be the Synderverse’s biggest victim.
@DogDetective Yep, considering they said they don't have plans for Switch they will most likely straight up porting the game to its successor... or at least I definitely hope that's the case!
@LikelySatan They're probably not going to release a secondary "Finished" version. The Answer was found as a DLC file in the code, so it'll probably just be paid DLC.
@JohnnyMind Makes sense given that the game has Ray Tracing. Makes use of it for reflections and lighting. Very noticeable in places like Tartarus and outside areas.
@Samalik No right mindset needed. It's just not for me. Which is cool.
Glad you enjoyed it though.
@JohnnyMind I hope one day the Digital Devil Saga gets a remaster (remake is a stretch) as well as a Megami Tensei compilation.
The ability to play the very first two games that were never released in the west would bring tears to my eyes. Not literally of course.
Also, any bets on Gotham Knights seeing sales increase when people realize what SS is? It will be interesting to watch. To me.
... probably only interesting to me.
@VoidofLight Yeah, definitely better wait for Switch 2 to come out at this point.
By the way, really interesting what you mentioned in your immediately previous comment, makes sense to add The Answer as DLC!
@Vexx234 Same, hope we'll see rereleases of (Shin) Megami Tensei mainline games and its other spin-offs as well in the future!
@LikelySatan Live service is the grim future of gaming. Now then, Wonder Woman season 2 skin dlc release date revealed.
Most of the complaints about this game I've seen online are nothing to do with the gameplay. People post a video of the game out of context and claim it is an insult to the character (even if the thing that happens matches their character in the comics).
I have barely seen anyone even mention whether the gameplay and rest of the story is actually good or bad. Such a over-the-top reaction from certain people judging a game they clearly haven't even played.
@lightningbolt79 So all those reviews and complaints about the repetitive grind, the boring loot, and the lackluster endgame never crossed your path?
@LikelySatan I seriously doubt they'll make some enhanced version. It'll just be a definitive edition with The Answer and costumes as DLC
@GooseLoose1 nope. The vast majority of complaints online are ridiculous, with some bordering on sexist and misogynist (I don't want to reveal why because that would be a spoiler for the game).
Obviously, the game will have some issues, but the amount of hate for a game that has sold well and has some very good reviews is ridiculous.
@lightningbolt79 "The vast majority of complaints online are ridiculous." Are you talking randos, reviewers, or both? Seems the complaints I've heard/read from reviewers are legit, and right in line with what everyone predicted as soon as we heard it was an online shooter.
You don't need to play a game to know you don't dig it. It's a live service, so it's not for me. It will disappear at some point. Probably sooner than later, as it had less concurrent players than even Gotham Knight at launch.
...lol.
No one wanted this from Rocksteady besides WB. Pretty sure that studio is done.
All y'all who bought Suicide Squad. You're the problem.
We went from Batman Arkham Knight being the fastest-selling superhero game ever upon its release to Suicide Squad selling half of the Guardians of the Galaxy game that infamously underperformed. Total collapse here.
@Edwirichuu I'm good w that. If they have to fleece players somehow, that's the better way.
I hope studios soon realize hiring Sweet Baby Inc is a quick way to see your game crash and burn.
@JohnnyMind Speaking of which, the first 4 main line games are still Japan only....
@Samalik Exactly, one more reason why it would be great if we got such rereleases!
That’s nice. I won’t contribute. Refuse to do Games as Service.
@Porky What's their involvement here that's bad?
Didn't know that the GTA Trilogy released on the Switfch
I remember when the Saints Row reboot was high up in the charts for best sellers before eventually dropping off pretty hard later on.
That's the thing with these big triple A releases, they do pretty well early on but when there are other games releasing along the year to compete for everyone's attention, and the game itself has few legs to stand on when it comes to the rule of diminishing returns because of the repetitive aspect of it's gameplay loop, players are quickly going to abandon this game once they've they realize how they've experienced everything there is to offer.
They will move on to the next big game immediately and no amount of content updates from the developers is going to fix what good will that has been damaged to Rocksteady's fan community due to the poor reception of this game and how they treated their beloved characters. It's not just that they killed the Justice League, but how they went about doing it and the way Batman was unceremoniously killed off without any sort grand speech or anything at all while he gets disrespected by Harley. The lamest way to kill off a beloved character.
@HotGoomba I envy you.
@russell-marlow not only a beloved character, but canonically the Batman we have played in the Arkham games. And Kevin Conroy.
Look how quick news got out that "this isn't Kevin Conroy's last performance, swearz" after this game's release. Oof.
Also, that means WB LIED about it being his final performance. Just gross
Also, despite the high numbers in people buying this game during launch, others have pointed out how similar games like Avengers initially also did well during launch. However, player numbers according to Steam Charts peaked around 26,000 players before dropping off and the developers deeming the game a failure before ultimately shutting it down permanently.
Suicide Squad's numbers as of now hover around 13,000+ on Steam charts, and if we consider how much money was poured into making this game and marketing it... I feel this game has a very slim chance of making a return on investment, if not being able to break even. Especially since this game has gotten worse reception and fan feedback since Marvel's Avengers. Only time will tell for certain...
@russell-marlow Did Rocksteady even know Kevin was ill? I find it hard to put blame on them when the actor himself never publicly disclosed his illness to begin with.
You may not have liked Batman how when out, but how can you put the blame on the devs who didn't even know the man was sick, and suddenly died.
By the time of his death, the game was in the late stages of development.
Im sorry, but when actors don't disclose they are ill, and pass, it's not the fault of people behind the scenes nor should they be burden with any guilt.
Conroy read the script, and knew before signing on, what would happen to his character, and how it would be portrayed.
Seems the game is a flop, gameplay and sales aren't convincing.
The Playerbase on Steam is relatively low for a Service Game.
Guys do not buy Suicide Squad Kills the Justice League, that game is garbage and could be beaten in only one day. The physical release had nothing on it except a launcher on a disc that takes you to WB's server. That means the game is online only even if you play single player. In the case if your internet sucks or WB ever closed down the server then you had just wasted your time or money as the game will not work without online. Long story short it's not a real game, the reason I didn't buy Guardians of the Galaxy was because it's not a real game on Switch. Instead it's just like the entire Kingdom Hearts series, it doesn't exist.
Platform split is for this week only or all-time?
Holy moly are xbox numbers dismal... The fact more people are buying notfifa on switch rather than xbox where the game should be arguably better haha..
I already expected an initial first place finish. I am more curious on lifetime sales than anything else. I guess we will see in due time.
@Drommajin It has been included for several weeks at this point so luckily it should be here to stay.
@DripDropCop146 Unless he knows anyone or has an agent, I don't think we'll know...
He's had dozens upon dozens of roles playing Batman in different media and I imagine this would've been just another pay check for him, but knowing his condition, I think he put his heart and soul into it thinking it would please his fans.
He was unfortunately at the mercy of the writers for this game, Batman's ultimate fate and the end is something I don't think he was okay with but I imagine he did it anyway because he thought it would be his final send off not knowing if it was good or not. I don't think anyone wanted to tell him the bad news unless someone over at Rocksteady knows but won't willing disclose it due to NDA's. We might not know for several years, honestly. Not until that NDA expires.
I’m gonna have to pick up suicide squad to see what all the fuss is about.
