GuliKit Reveals New SNES Themed Docking Station, Compatible With Switch

Huh...I might actually get one of these. I've never really bought any GuliKit's products but they seem to be good quality.

Cause I do plan on getting their Gulikit Kong Pro Controller at some point.

I can't bring myself to buy any of these with that small chance of it bricking the console.

I know in most cases it's a bad power supply but still, my stock one has served me well.

Does third parties still not know that customers are avoid using any other dock due to fear of their Switch bricking? I say wait until Nintendo end Switch support then put these in the after market cause now it looks like it's too risky to stick to any third party dock in the case if the Switch does brick and Nintendo refuse to fix it due to unlicense third party issue.

Ugly with no real big benefits and the risk of a brick? Sign me the heck up

@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot it's a great option. Dpad is not terrible. Can handle old school platformers but probably not SNK fighters, if you know what I mean. But those sticks are great and it just has a very premium feel.

I wouldn't risk a Switch on it, but I've had luck using my Steam Deck with off-brand docks. I like the aesthetic here and appreciate what they're trying to do. It is regrettable that Nintendo doesn't often exploit the money making potential in official items like this outside of some very cool GBA and 3DS variants

@Serpenterror is it the Dock's hardware bricking the machine or the powersupply powering the dock?

if there would be a SNES Themed switch, this dock would be tempting. But pairing it with a original switch will just not look great in my imagination..m

Are people still worried about bricking the console with 3rd party docks? I thought that problem has long been solved. I’ve used several over the last…idk 4 years with no problem.

This looks like a cool 3rd party dock-and I love the NA Snes design! I know there’s a debate over which SNES looks the best, but I’ve always loved the purple scheme.

I don't trust anything not made by Nintendo going into that charging port. My initial launch day unit was bricked because of a non-Nintendo charger. This thing looks pretty neat but that's a no from me, dawg.

I’m not sure I would trust a 3rd party port TBH. It’s looks nice however.

Bought that Skull one and i am using it with the official Nintendo Adapter, nothing happened in a half Year, so i can recommend it

It's really cool looking, but as others have mentioned I don't want to take any risks with 3rd party docks.

@IceClimbersMain it has long since been discovered that it wasn't the third party docks bricking the Switchs, it was the third party AC adapters that were doing it. Use this dock with the official Switch AC adapter and you won't brick.

Wait, how does it work with Switch AND Steam Deck? Switch has USB-C on the bottom, Steam Deck's is on the top...but in both cases, the fans/vents are on the top so you can't just put one in upside-down.

This would look great on the entertainment center. I hope they release one that looks like the Famicom, because that would be even more awesome.

It's a shame it's the ugly American SNES rather than the SNES the rest of the world got. The latter is still one of my favourite looking consoles.

The only "benefit" it has is you don't lose a(n) USB port while gaining an Ethernet port.

I know USB-C is used for charging and data-transfer. Those are usually USB to USB-C.

I've not seen a(n) USB-C to USB-C cable, what and where is primarily used?
And before someone comes in with the sarcasm, yes, I see it is used here... -__-

@Atariboy well that site is wrong, seriously, look deeper into it. It's the AC adapters for sure, and it's not hard at all to understand why.

When my buddy's Switch bricked when only connected to a third party charging cable and no dock in use at all. That was all the proof I needed. But again it's really not hard to understand why, not all USB-C charges are built the same at all. I bet if you try any 3 random charges with your phone, you'll find that they all give different charging times to reach 100%. That's the key right there. That website you linked is both outdated and honestly dangerous for this topic at hand.

@duffmmann I spent a few minutes looking into it the other day when I saw how confident you were. I didn't see much out there with the level of certainty that you have about this topic.

I don't have a horse in this race though, so I'm not about to argue about something I've not personally investigated. You very well might be right.

I only have need for the stock dock that came with my system and only clicked on this since I'm a Super Nintendo fan.
