Now that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is finally out in the (Breath of the) wild, we think it's probably safe to say that a large percentage of the Nintendo community - and indeed the gaming community as a whole - is probably playing it today.
Other developers and publishers know this too, of course, and rather than bury their heads in the sand and ignore such a momentous occasion, the official Sea of Thieves Twitter account has decided to lean into it in the best way.
Posted early on May 12th, 2023 (the release date of Tears of the Kingdom, in case you didn't know), the tweet expressly states that Sea of Thieves 'won't shed any tears' (aha!) if you decide to play Zelda instead. Granted, the tweet doesn't mention Tears of the Kingdom by name, but the reference here is obvious.
It's a pretty nice gesture, all told; we all know other games are likely going to suffer over the coming days as we venture back into the land of Hyrule, but approaching it with a healthy dose of humour is probably the best way to go about it.
We're betting on other official Twitter accounts (you know, those golden tick ones) tweeting out their support and congratulations over the coming hours, so we'll be sure to update this article with any further gestures.
Sure enough, here comes PlayStation and Xbox's Larry Hyrb with their own nods to Nintendo's latest release:

What good sports xD
You know it's one purpose is marketing, but it's still nice to see xD
If I played this game I'd defo fire it up before my copy arrives to give them some love, so it would have worked on me
Breath of the wild seas.
(Making a wind waker succesor))
Nintendo buying rare if xbox fumbles.
I just love it when devs are cool like this. I mean maybe its just good marketing as of course this comment wont really change sales perspectives while just being very charming. But in that case it proves that marketing can be great too.
Tears of the thieves
More excellent Xbox sales tactics.
Play the other consoles, not ours!
Hope the competitors have learned their lesson on not releasing their games on Zelda day.
Maybe now I can get the gold in weekly Maker Points on MM2...
Who am I kidding...
You know, if Microsoft was truly interested in having their games on Nintendo platforms (they aren't) then there wouldn't have been a more perfect game than Sea of Thieves. It has the art style and gameplay perfect for a switch. Could it do those oceans well? Probably not, but it might have come close.
RARE needs to forge a new relationship going forward. People still think they are bad after the acquisition - they are wrong - RARE is easily the most talented group under the MS umbrella. Sea of Thieves is one of the better games that released in the past decade.
@RamenNumerals I only played it on pc. That's a bummer I always thought it would be fun on an easy console/tv experience.
sidequest: my "smart" tv was integrated with MS cloud gaming so I thought I'd give it a shot - since I own Windows games and have a crazy strong wired connection. You want to talk bad loading? The tv cloud gaming experience was beyond bad.
I really hate the smart tv experience. Each brand's iteration get worse and worse. My pricey samsung S95b sucks.
@abbyhitter poor Horizon. Releasing alongside BotW and then Elden Ring.
This game is poorly optimized and poorly designed when it comes to combat, quests etc, but it was fun with friends around. I wish it had the good, old Rare behind it.
@Cashews Double Fine, Obsidian and Playground games>>>>>>Rare
Refreshing to see Playstation and folks from Xbox acknowledge this game.
Seeing a lot of salty PS and Xbox fans showing some bitterness over TotK. lol
@abbyhitter Guerilla tried not to release horizon forbidden west 3 days before Zelda and got wrecked by Elden Ring. I guess some devs are unlucky.
Each games plays their own way and considering it's on Switch you can play whenever you feel like. So no the more game the Switch can get all the better.
