Sonic 2 Wins 'Favourite Movie' At Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards 2023

I liked the 1st movie more than it's sequel but I will say it was at least way better than what it was nominated against. Also it's odd how Puss in Boots: The Last Wish wasn't nominated in the favorite animated movie category. But whatever this is a not serious award show to begin with since they don't formally present the winner for all of these categories.

@PipeGuy64Bit Yeah. This is pretty much the kids' awards, what kids enjoyed the most.
I was definitely expecting Sonic to win, since Paramount made the Sonic movies and they own Nickelodeon (look at how SpongeBob has a near-unbroken streak of awards since 2003). The only other Paramount movie there was Top Gun: Maverick, which is a family film but not quite as kid-appealing as Sonic.

Weirdly, there have been some nominees and winners in the past that were R-rated films. But that was back then.
Don't expect something like Everything Everywhere All at Once (my personal favourite film of the year) to win, let alone get nominated, in the Kids' Choice Awards.

Don't expect even family-friendly indie/foreign/arthouse films like In the Mood for Love or Miracle in Cell No. 7 to get nominated, since kids haven't heard of those and only the mainstream films/shows.
Even something like the latest Studio Ghibli or Makoto Shinkai film won't get nominated in the awards. The nominees and winners are mostly chosen by kids.

Yeah, that one was definitely popular with the kids I’m sure. I really disliked it but I’m glad so many others enjoyed it.

I watched it. It was okay. Maybe a bit too much focus on fan service and Easter eggs. But, I guess this film is mostly something only true Sonic fas can enjoy.

My sons wanted to watch Sonic 2 this morning for a Sunday morning movie. I am literally watching the end of the movie as I type this. lol

Both movies are great for what they are supposed to do. Entertain kids. I really can’t complain much about them.

Great movie, honestly. It did something that doesn't happen that often - kept up with the 1st part in terms of quality.

This is well deserved I loved it more than first movie I can't wait for the third movie.

These Sonic movies are great. It's cool that a game franchise can succeed in another medium like that.

Sonic OVA is better than both live action films.

I liked Detective Pikachu but didn't really like either Sonic movie. I was probably too hyped up by all the people claiming they were fantastic. I am optimistic for Mario though.

Surprising they didn't vote for Emancipation.

These nominations are.. weird. Yea, kids could enjoy movies like Black Panther and Top Gun (and those are great movies) but why didn’t they nominate other kids movies or animated movies??

Amazing movie. The first one was... eh.

I'm an adult and I love this movie lol. Better than the first and just super fun all the way through.

1st movie was kinda OK.
I didn't watch the 2nd movie due to still pandemic situation.
I have to make sure I can watch the 3rd movie since the restriction at public places has been removed but we still have to wear mask.

I saw the first Sonic movie. Still on my hit list to watch Sonic 2. I am curious on one thing. Am I the only millennial who still watches the Kids Choice Awards? I've watched it every year since the early 90's as kid. At this point it's tradition for me. Just made me wonder how many adults actually still watch it~ 🤷‍♀️

Nice, can't wait to see how they handle Shadow and Knuckles in the third film.

I know I didn't watch it, due to the fact that kids vote for SpongeBob SquarePants over The Loud House, and that he won 20 of these blimps. What do people see in This Nickelodeon equivalent to Mickey Mouse, anyway? And speaking of Mickey, how come he doesn't have his own theatrical feature-length film before he goes Public Domain? Why is it that his pals, Donald Duck and Goofy, have theatrical films in "The Three Caballeros" and "A Goofy Movie," respectively?

Still, as for Sonic 2 winning, I guess Tails would say it best, when he'd say...

"Only Sonic the Hedgehog could win a KCA for both movies! "

Didn't like the 2nd as much as the first but nevertheless, it's great to see video game movies get some TL and C besides from some decades ago. Optimistic for Super Mario Bros movie and Pac-Man.

Well it's not like Sonic 2 had much "kids choice" competition if they only had those other more teen/adult movies to choose from 🙄

Sonic 2 sucked hard except for maybe the last 5 minutes. Those kids will realise when they watch it again as an adult. All the jokes were pop-culture based that no kids understood or laughed at in my theatre. Jim Carrey lost his mojo and nothing he said was funny (is that because he wasn't allow to improv? Or was he just phoning it in?).

And that pointless side story with the wedding was like watching a completely different movie.

What a failure.

I'd like to know the other movies.., becuz I felt sonic 2 wasn't all that great compared to the first which was awesome!. I wouldn't pay to see sonic 2 if I had to go back in time n do it over again. Hell I'd argue sonic prime the cgi cartoon is better by "miles" (ha).
