I dunno, probably in 4 years, once I go through a Fire Emblem midlife crisis to become a jaded hardcore fan, play it, and think "uh, so it's fine, really" before contemplating the futility of the past 70 hours I spent confirming this fact.

I said "No" initially, because of the day-one dlc announcement. But being the working-class, capitalist w**** I am, I smashed the pre-order button so hard that it was out of service for several days.

I'm looking forward to it.

If it’s like every Fire Emblem game I go into, I’d make it halfway, get my strongest guys/love interest killed and lose motivation. I’ll save myself the hassle.

Waiting on mine to ship. Come on Gamestop! But I’ve been working on my third play through of 3 houses in the meantime. Also replaying the first NES game. Will likely cave and buy it digital first.

I'm going to try Three Houses again before picking this one up. I didn't give it a fair shake last time I played it because I was busy with other games at the time.

It looks like they have made a FE for me again, but I'm buying 3DS games until the shop shuts down. After that I'm all over it.

For once, I’ll probably skip it. I’ve played and finished every Fire Emblem game since Awakening (except Heroes, I guess) but this time, the game just does not interest me. If I’m being honest, I’m still having a hard time believing that this is a genuine new main installment, and not some mobile spin-off, what with the whole “summon past characters to aid you” gimmick, and hearing that character development and interactions were taking a back seat this time doesn’t help with that (since the characters are the main reason why I play in the first place).
Thankfully, I have plenty of Three Houses content to get through (especially if I include the new Warriors game) so I won’t be losing much, but hopefully the next title (presuming there is one) will be a bit more interesting than this one seems.

I preordered with no intent to actually start it yet LOL. I just knew that I’d want to have it for when I actually have time to play it.

I've never tried the series. Maybe someday. I like strategy games but don't play too many due to time commitment. I'd probably get sparks of hope and marvel midnight sons before this one

My copy actually came in today! It's my first time getting a new major release a little early, so it was a very pleasant surprise.

Preordered the divine edition for store pick up at Best Buy. Made sure to request Friday as my day off this week. I can’t wait! As much as I enjoyed Three Houses I’ve been wanting something closer to a traditional Fire Emblem experience and this looks like it will scratch that itch

Honestly, have looked at pre-ordering it a couple of times this last week. I just have too many games right now. Also, gotta get the wife HOGWARTS LEGACY in a few weeks.

I’m playing 3 Houses at the moment (fifth time the charme, bought day 1 and hopefully this time I’ll make it past hour five LOL) but I wish I had this one instead because I don’t care about the extensive social stuff, much prefer a focus on combat and just a touch of social linking.

Although, I hate how Engage looks artstyle-wise and find the main character’s ridiculous with the “NSW Neon” toothpaste hair, it’s just the wrong kind of “anime” for my tastes. Honestly, my fav is still Path of Radiance, back when Fire Emblem was in my top 3 Nintendo series… I’m glad Awakening saved the series but it took it steered it a bit on the wrong direction afaic.

Never played a Fire Emblem game. Not into turn based strategy really. This continues the long string of Nintendo releases that don’t interest me. Zelda though…

I'm getting the divine edition but I won't be able to play it on day 1. I only just beat the third dungeon in P5R and I got that game on Christmas!

Maybe once I get through my backlog, I've never played a fire emblem before so I'm hesitant on giving engage a shot. It'll take months to clean up the games I've piled up so once that and totk is taken care of if I still really want to try it I will.

I think I will miss the relationship building of previous games and I think I'll likely prefer three houses and awakening to it in tone but I reckon I'll still enjoy this a lot.

Was lucky enough to get an extra Divine Edition preordered, so I'm happy about that. Really truly hope the reports of the social stuff being downplayed is accurate, and it's more of a return to form of the classic titles. 🙏🥺

@DashKappei Exactly my sentiment regarding the direction of FE. I absolutely adored the HBA/GC/Wii titles, then Awakening really did shift the direction. I couldn't stomach 3H at all cause of the ridiculous social abundance aspect to it; romance + school drama?! Omg, no...😱

As far as character design goes, Fire Emblem has increasingly had very strange, silly-looking characters, but for me I find that irrelevant if the core gameplay is really strong. I'm not going to deprive myself of a potentially great FE game just based on the art. Also with Advanced Wars seemingly indefinitely delayed, FE is filling a void. 🥺

Even on the Fire Emblem subreddit for Three Houses, the general consensus was that the season pass for that game wasn't worth it.

The season pass DLC content for Engage looks similar, so I doubt I'll end up with it either.

The lamest looking Fire Emblem game ever and one of the lamest looking games I have ever seen. And I used to be a Fire Emblem fan. Looks like something straight out Tencent... With the coming of Fire Emblem Engage, the series is officially dead for me. That is fine however. Fire Emblem Three Houses was a fitting end to the series, one of the best games ever made in my opinion.

Pre-ordered. It is one of the few games I can play together with my SO and FETHouses was great to play together.

I'll probably pick it up at some point. Its really not where I hoped the series would go though. I enjoyed Three Houses a lot, but I think Radiant Dawn and its lore and story telling will always be my favourite

The style is just repulsive to me. The only FE I’ve ever enjoyed was 3H. So I guess I’m not actually a fan of the series. Saving my money for Octopath Traveler 2!

I never finished Three Houses so probably not. That this game has less focus on the characters and story doesn't make me have high hopes that I'd finish this one either.

Besides I haven't picked up Xenoblade 3 yet either, if I picked up a switch game right now it would be more likely that.

If the game looked like a more serious dark fantasy or closer to the older games, I would be really excited- imagine FE in the style of Lord of the rings. But this game is like mixing Mid ages Anime with a Cirque de Soleil and a clown show- with the designs I just can’t take the game seriously. It’s a shame, I love FE, but the last solid game I really enjoyed was Awakening. 3houses was solid, but too stretched out and the fights were too long sometimes for my tastes-which I thought would be better in here- more intimate, intense game, but the visuals are a big turnoff for me:/

Undecided currently. Haven’t liked a fire emblem game since awakening and while it is nice to hear this game is more like old school fire emblem, the main gimmick of the game being summon past characters seems bland. Might pick it up on sale down the line once I stop playing Pokémon everyday.

I actually preordered because there was a good price on Amazon at launch day (like 46 euros) and I had so many issues finding Three Houses physical at a reasonable price years after the fact that I decided to buy it now.
Now I own four Fire Emblem games (Awakening, Shadows of Valentia, Three Houses and Engage) but I still have to play any of them. My backlog is a ever growing monster at this point.

Fire Emblem is an instant buy for me no matter what. I'm heartened that reviews seem to indicate a return to form for the tactical side of things - you know, the core gameplay.

I do wish they could find a good balance on the interpersonal stuff, I love 3 Houses but it's just... a lot. Also not a fan of the character design, but I'm willing to let it grow on me. The flat story is a bigger concern to me, but like I said none of that overshadows the fact that I just really really love Fire Emblem gameplay.

I will get it eventually. My eldest and I love playing those types of games. I just don’t have the money for it right now.

I usually trade for big titles at GameStop but they open too late for me as I’m flying out tomorrow morning. I’ll buy it at Target 7AM on the dot and have it for the flight.

It looks as lewd as Xenoblade 2, the story premise appears to be a generic cardboard template, not only does battle music sound like background wallpaper, you are unable to get into a musical groove because the music is constantly interrupted by battle animation engagements and it’s own flourish of music. The rings and hom-base activities appear to be busy work. I still remember when people complained about Death Stranding being busy work, a job. In the years since, it appears people have accepted this kind of “gameplay” as acceptable or even desirable. I hate it. Lastly, the anime aesthetic (art, drama, acting) is just too over the top, cringe (referencing that man jumping in the air to ask forgiveness for firing an arrow at Alear). Just cringe.

So no, I won’t be buying any game like this at all.

I've had Three Houses for a year now, so I'm going to start that instead.
I can always pick up Engage later in the year if I want to play it.

I was waiting for reviews, but I liked what I saw so I pulled the trigger this morning. I was tempted to wait for user scores but tbh it’s gonna get review bombed by 3H fans and people who don’t like the main character’s hair

Answer to the question whether I am getting it.

No, FE is a convoluted mess of a story. I prefer the more grounded storylines of a game like Tactics Ogre or Triangle Strategy. And while I love mutliple game spanning stories, this one just fails, for me.

But I salute you all who enjoy the series and wish you a lot of fun.

the only 1st party game I am interested in this year, that we know about. I don't care about Kirby and I'm meh on Zelda. Now, if we got Advance Wars, I'd have something else to be pumped for

I preordered months ago but Target is taking its sweet time and Amazon is yet to ship. I thought you were supposed to get the game earlier with pre-ordering but the last few have been a long wait. Same thing happened with Bayonetta 3.

I've only played about 10 minutes but wow is this a beautiful game!! I know many reviews are out there criticizing the way the game balances its combat vs its social, but setting that stuff aside, it just FEELS good to be in this world, everything is bright and shiny!! I have no regrets. Runs butter smooth on the Switch.

No. The last game i´ll buy for Nintendo Switch will be Advance Wars 1 + 2.
