Update [Sun 22nd Jan, 2023 02:25 GMT]: A listing for Sessions: Skate Sim has now appeared on the Switch eShop and Nintendo's official website. It will apparently be arriving on 16th March 2023.
There'll be two versions - the standard one for $49.99 USD (or your regional equivalent) and the Deluxe Edition for $59.99, and both can be pre-ordered now. The deluxe version will include extra levels and some other exclusive items. Here's the official description:
AUTHENTIC GAMEPLAY - With the dual stick controls, each stick represents one of your feet. You will need to learn how to control them and transfer weight, just like on a real skateboard. The physics have been developed with a focus on realism, smoothness and immersion. Just like in real life for a new skateboarder, the first hours can seem challenging, but once you have mastered the technique, you will feel the unrivalled thrill of pulling off your very first kickflip! Session: Skate Sim also includes full options customisation, so you can enjoy the perfect experience tailored to you. A full tutorial provides all the help you need to get started, and you can choose from four difficulty levels!
THE 1990S AND SKATE CULTURE - Inspired by the golden age of street skating – the 1990s – Session: Skate Sim lets you experience true skateboarding and its culture: no scoring system; just you, your spot and your imagination! There's no need for judges to tell you that your noseslide or varial heelflip are perfect for this spot. And because certain locations are iconic, the developers have added several of them to the game for you to skate in and express your creativity, including Black Hubbas (New York City), Brooklyn banks (New York City), FDR Park (Philadelphia) and many other spots.
"IF IT WASN'T CAUGHT ON VIDEO, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN" - Skating and pulling off the best lines in the best spots is one thing, but if no one is there to film it, it didn't really happen… In Session: Skate Sim, you can film with a 1990s filter or fisheye lens, and you can use the video editor to create your clips and share them. You can play with multiple options, including changing the field of view, time of day, filters, and different camera views (tripod, orbit, etc.). Session: Skate Sim also offers the chance to go from skater to filmmaker: pull off your moves then go into film mode to experience the action from the point of view of your camera operator and create the best clip.
CUSTOMISATION - Show off your style with an extensive customisation system for your skater and skateboard. By completing challenges, you earn money to spend in skate shops. You can find nearly 200 items (hoodies, shoes, caps, T-shirts, trousers, etc.) from top brands, such as Fallen, Zero, GrindKing, Thankyou, HIJINX Net, Antilanta, Roger Skate CO, No-Comply, iDabble and others. You can also customise your skateboard with over 250 parts, such as wheels, trucks and many other components from famous brands like, No-Comply, Grind King, Thankyou and many others. In addition to the design aspect, the components (trucks, riser pads, wheels…) impact the way you skate. Find the right ones for your style and shred the most iconic spots!
Original story [Fri 2nd Sep, 2022 05:15 BST]: Skateboarding games have had a resurgence in recent years, and it seems the Nintendo Switch could be getting one more in the near future.
Yet another rating has popped up, this time in Taiwan. As highlighted by Universo Nintendo (via GoNintendo), it's Session: Skate Sim. This title is due out later this month on Xbox, PlayStation and PC (currently Early Access), but there's been no official mention of a Switch release so far.
According to the Taiwan rating board, the rating has been filed by the game's publisher Nacon. This follows on from a string of other listings this week. If we hear any updates, we'll let you know.

I could have sworn that a Switch release had been confirmed (although not a date).
Played it on steam and returned it. It was a bit barebones and plain and the controls were a bit convoluted for realism sake i suppose.. even on "skate" mode, that was over a year ago. The video makes it look cool hopefully it's gotten better
I am playing it on PC on hard-core difficulty and I had been skating intensively for about a decade since later 90s. This is a love letter to skateboarding at its core of joy. It is hard but it reminds me the satisfaction from landing first tricks in real life. You find a spot – you come with an idea of a trick – then you repeat dozens of failures until you finally land it and then make it perfect. Not for everyone, not for fans of Tony Hawk Pro Skater arcade style. But it is a great game for skaters and everyone who like the challenge.
I am not sure if I would play it on Switch (if it comes out), it needs analogue triggers, but might be cool to have it on the go even with visual downgrade.
I absolutely love this game, been hooked on it on my Xbox even though it's still in early access. They did a great job of making the skating feel authentic, with lots of ways to customize the experience.
This also brings up Skater XL, which was announced for the Switch a long time ago. Whatever happened to that? Funny if we get Session first.
I always liked the more realistic Skate series over Tony Hawk back in the day but that's probably because I used to actually skate. This looks interesting for sure but my love of the sport has long since left me and been replaced with achy knees.
I have been skating thirty nine years and will not ever stop. I liked the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games. Harder control games like this interest me because you really do use each foot differently. This could be a good game.
I played this in early access and it was so, so difficult to get to grips with. Seems like it would be super rewarding to get good at though!
Tony Hawk's still the best ever
I’m nearly 40, been skating since I was 12 and in my time with the game it’s too hard to be fun. I spent hours learning tricks in real life, I just want to have fun when I play games. I do have a friend who loves it, but he’s likes when games are stupidly hard
@sketchturner
You are thinking of Skater XL which hasn't had any news since that announcement.
Why did I not see this game? It looks like Tony Hawk's Pro skater game. Awesome. This game is awesome.
